Extravagance In The Home
Shaykh Sālih Ibn ‘Abd Al-‘Azīz Āl Ash-Shaykh حفظه الله said:
“Likewise flaunting and showing off by overburdening oneself by purchasing furniture above their means; the believer has been prohibited from this because the intent is evil. But there is nothing wrong with furnishing and dressing up the home if it is done without extravagance and excess such as decorating the walls with prayer rugs, and using impermissible material such as silk and the like. And buying the most expensive furniture possible is from extravagance and excess. Balance is better in regards to everything, and everyone does in accordance to his means. And whoever takes the Salaf and their lives as an example, this is more complete.”
