Signs Of Hypocrisy And Envy

 Signs Of Hypocrisy And Envy

‘Aqil Ibn Ma’qil رحمه الله said:

“I heard my uncle Wahb Ibn Munabbih رحمه الله say, ‘Three signs of a hypocrite: when he is alone he is lazy, he is energetic when in the company of others and he chases after praise in all of his affairs. Three signs of an envious person: he backbites the one whom he is jealous of, if he were to meet him, he flatters him, and he is delighted at his misfortunes.’”

WHEN THEY HEAR THE TRUTH..

WHEN THEY HEAR THE TRUTH..

When they hear the truth their hearts are too hard to accept it, but when they witness falsehood and hear fallacy, their hearts openly accept it and they lend a willing ear.

By Allāh, these are the signs of hypocrisy, so beware of them!

The salah of the hypocrites

The salah of the hypocrites

“The salah of the hypocrites is the salah of the body (i.e. physical movements only), not the salah of the heart. O Allah do not make us from them.” Aameen!!!

Protection From Hypocrisy

Protection From Hypocrisy

Al-Imaam ibnul Qayyim rahimahullaah: “Remembering Allaah azza wa jall a lot is a protection from hypocrisy, for indeed the hypocrites remember Allaah azza wa jall only a little.” — [al-Waabil as-Sayyib, 195]

Ramadan is the worst month for the hypocrite

Ramadan is the worst month for the hypocrite

Shaykh Abdul ’Azeez bin Baaz رحمه الله stated:

It is befitting for the believing man and woman to compete in good (in the month of Ramadan), and they should hasten in this blessed month to perform various righteous deeds. This is a tremendous month. The Muslims have not been blessed with a better month, whereas, this is the worst month for the hypocrites due to lack of conducting good in it and them not fulfilling its rights. Hence, the believer hastens to conduct good deeds, he abstains from sin, and he is diligent in performing various types of pious actions…

What is common between a Munaafiq, a Faasiq and a Hizbee?!

What is common between a Munaafiq, a Faasiq and a Hizbee?!

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Shaikh al-Fawzaan حفظه الله said:

“No one engages in defaming the scholars, who are firm upon the truth, except for one of the three:

1) A Munaafiq (hypocrite) whose hypocrisy is well known.

2) Or a Faasiq (evil doer) who hates the scholars because they prevent him from doing evil deeds.

3) Or a misguided Hizbee (fanatic/zealot) who hates the scholars because they do not agree with his Hizbiyyah (partisanship) and his deviant ideology.”

Can a person be a disbeliever despite his saying laa ilaaha ill Allaah?

Can a person be a disbeliever despite his
saying laa ilaaha ill Allaah?

Question:

Can a person commit kufr (disbelief) whilst upon his tongue is laa ilaaha ill Allaah (none has the right to be worshipped in Truth except Allaah)?

Answer:

A person can indeed become a disbeliever in front of Allaah whilst he says la ilaaha ill Allaah.
And this is just like the hypocrite who said la ilaaha ill Allaah with his tongue and he did not believe with his heart, such as Abdullaah ibn Abee Sulool and the like of him.

And with Allaah is the tawfeeq. And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

Everybody falls into it somehow… a little or a lot

Everybody falls into it somehow… a little or a lot

In the Name of Allaah…

Most people entertain bad thoughts about Allaah regarding their own personal situations and the situations of others.  The only ones who remain safe from this are those who truly know Allaah, His Names, His Attributes, and what His Wisdom and Right to be praised really entails.

So let every sincere, sound-minded individual focus on himself regarding this, and then repent to Allaah and seek His Forgiveness from the negative notions he entertains about his Lord.

Look closely at anyone!  You will find that people become upset with Qadr and blame things on it, saying that, “It should have been this way or that way…”
Some people behave this way only rarely, others more commonly!

Inspect yourself – Are you innocent!?
If you are saved from it, you are safe from something terrible…
But really, I doubt you are even safe!
-Ibn al-Qayyim
This is a passage from the great writings of al-’Allaamah Ibn Qayyim al-Jowziyyah, as quoted in the book, Kitaab at-Towheed, by Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abdil-Wahhaab.

This passage was an explanation of some Qur’aanic verses exposing the notions and ill assumptions of the hypocrites after the defeat suffered at the Battle of Uhud.  It is absolutely amazing how this great scholar tied the filthy beliefs of the hypocrites to our own hearts and actions, and guided us to take a an important personal lesson from the hidden enemies of Islaam and their false notions about the Wisdom of Allaah and His Qadr.

From the attributes of the hypocrites is that they do not submit to the Qadr of Allaah, instead they find fault with it, and claim that things would have been better had they been in charge of the affair!
Review Soorah Aal ‘Imraan (3:154).

Ibn al-Qayyim said, “Inspect yourself – Are you innocent?!”
I remind myself and my brothers and sisters in Islaam to sincerely think about the following statements and ponder over how distant we are from them in reality:
  • “That’s just great!  This is why I hate Mondays!”
  • “What is wrong with this laptop?  Another virus!!  And of course this would happen NOW, when I have all this important work to finish!!”
  • “The car seems to break down every time I’m running late!”
  • “My stupid cellphone keeps shutting down…!”
  • “Oh great!  One more red light!  As if I’m not late enough!”
  • “I stoved my toe on that stupid table!”
These small everyday trials we face and the emotions we react with are all part of our personal test.  Our reactions, beliefs, and statements are all being recorded!

With the above mentioned complaints and reactions, who are we actually displeased with?  We know that the table didn’t do anything to our toe, right?  We know that cars, cellphones, and laptops don’t actually choose to do things to harm us in reality, right?

So then, again – WHO or WHAT are we really displeased with when uttering these kinds of statements?
We desperately need our spouses, friends, and companions to remind us, quite simply, with the following question:
Are you unhappy with the Qadr of Allaah?

Let us replace the bad reactions mentioned with the very best guidance available, the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam):

وإن أصابك شيء فلا تقل لو أني فعلت كذا لكان كذا وكذا لكن قل قدر الله وما شاء فعل
“…And if something (bad) befalls you, do not say, ‘Had I only done such-and-such, then such-and-such would have happened, rather say: Qadrullaahi, wa maa shaa’ fa’ala (This is from the Qadr of Allaah, and He does whatever He wills).” [Muslim]

Let us affirm everything we face as the Qadr of Allaah, submit to Allaah being pleased with the trial He (and no one else) has chosen for us, and be afraid of a bad reaction that would be written against us and handed to us on the Day of Account.

And Allaah knows best.

Hypocrisy Today

Hypocrisy Today

Hudhayfah b. Al-Yamān – Allāh be pleased with him – said:

The munāfiqūn (hypocrites) amongst you today are worse than those in the time of Allāh’s Messenger – Allāh’s praise and peace be upon him.

He was asked, “How is that o Abū ‘Abdillāh”?

He replied:

Because those [in the time of the Prophet] used to hide their nifāq (hypocrisy), whereas the hypocrites of today commit [hypocrisy] openly.

Shaqiq Al-Balkhi said:

“The believer (mu’min) is like a man who plants a palm-tree and fears that it will have a single thorn growing on it, while the hypocrite is like the one who plants a thorny tree in hopes that it will bear fruit”.

The Three Men and the Valley

 [example of the munafiq]

It is reported that ‘Abdullâh b. Mas’ûd – Allâh be pleased with him – said:

The example of the believer, the unbeliever and the hypocrite is that of three people who arrived at a valley. One of them descended and passed through to the other side. One of them descended until he reached half way, when the third man on the edge of the valley called to him, “Woe to you, where are you going? You will die. Come back.” The man who made it to the other side called to him, “Come and be saved.” So [the man in the middle of the valley] kept looking back and forth at the two [on each side of the valley], when a flood came into the valley and drowned him. The man who passed through to the other side is the believer; the one who drowned is the munâfiq (hypocrite) –

[The Hypocrites] sway between this and that, neither [fully] with the believers nor with the unbelievers.
Quran 4:143

And the one who remained at the edge of the valley [not  able to escape the flood and pass] is the kâfir (unbeliever).

Ibn Abî Hâtim, Al-Tafsîr article 6144.

The Faces of Nifâq

The Faces of Nifâq

It is reported from Al-Hasan Al-Basrî – Allâh have mercy on him – that he said:

It used to be said: it is part of al-nifâq (hypocrisy) to be inwardly different from what you are on the outside, to say one thing and do another and to be different in how you enter and how you leave. And the root of al-nifâq is lying.

Abû Bakr Al-Kharâ`itî, Masâwî Al-Akhlâq wa Madhmûmihâ p62.
