Double Your Towbah – Repent from Delaying Your Repentance!

Double Your Towbah –

Repent from Delaying Your Repentance!

The great scholar of Islam, Ibn Qayyim al-Jowziyyah [d.752] (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“…And we shall mention some things related to repentance (towbah) that are very necessary (to grasp), and it is not befitting that someone be ignorant of them.

From them: Immediate repentance is obligatory after committing a sin. It is not permissible to delay it. Whenever someone delays it, he has committed (another) sin by delaying it. In this case, when he repents from the sin (itself), another act of repentance remains a duty upon him – that he must repent for delaying his repentance! This is something that rarely comes to mind when someone repents. Instead, he may assume that since he has repented from the sin, that there is nothing else left to do, while there remains upon him the duty to repent from delaying his repentance…”

The Companion Hudhaifah Explaining How

to Know Whether You Have Been

Afflicted with Fitnah or Not

From Hudhaifah, Allaah be pleased with him, who said, “Whoever would like to know if he has been inflicted with fitnah or not, then let him look and see if he views something as ḥalāl now which he used to regard as ḥarām, or if he holds something to be ḥarām which he used to hold to be ḥalāl.”

“He Who Knows Allah Is Fully Preoccupied”

“He Who Knows Allah Is Fully Preoccupied”

🔸Mālik ibn Dīnār used to say:

مَنْ ‌عَرَفَ ‌اللَّهَ ‌فَهُوَ ‌فِي ‌شُغُلٍ ‌شَاغِلٍ،

وَيْلٌ لِمَنْ ذَهَبَ عُمُرُهُ بَاطِلًا

"He who knows Allah is fully preoccupied. Woe to the one whose life passes in vain."

🔸 ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawwād said to a man:

مَنْ لَمْ يَتَّعِظْ بِثَلَاثٍ لَمْ يَتَّعِظْ بِشَيْءٍ:

الْإِسْلَامُ، وَالْقُرْآنُ، وَالشَّيْبُ.

“He who is not admonished by three will not be admonished by anything: Islam, the Qur’an, and grey hair.”

Let Islam guide you. Let the Qur’an warn you. Let your grey hairs humble you.

The Remedy for Whispering (of Satan) in the Prayer

The Remedy for Whispering

 (of Satan) in the Prayer

Question:

When I begin to pray, I am afflicted by a kind of whispering and thoughts, and sometimes I do not know what I have recited, nor how many Rakahs I have prayed. Please tell me what I should do.

Answer:

It is prescribed for the worshipper - man or woman - to approach the prayer with humility towards Allaah and to call to mind that he stands before his Lord, so that Satan will stay away from him and the whispering will be reduced, in implementation of Allaahs Words: Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their prayers with all solemnity and full submissiveness. [1] If the whispering becomes frequent, it is prescribed to seek refuge with Allaah from Satan, as the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) ordered Uthman bin Abi Al-As, when he informed him that Satan had confused his prayers. And when the worshipper becomes uncertain as to the number of Rakahs he has prayed, he should assume the minimum, base his estimation upon what he is sure of, and then complete his prayer. Afterwards he performs two prostrations of forgetfulness before making the Taslim, based upon the narration of Abu Said, may Allaah be pleased with him, from the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) in which he said: If any of you is in doubt regarding his prayer, and he does not know how much he has prayed, three or four (Rakahs) then let him cast aside doubt and base his estimation upon what he is sure of. Then prostrate twice before making the Taslim, if he has prayed five, his prayer will be an intercessor for him, and if he has completed the prayer correctly, it will be a humiliation for Satan. [2] And Allaah is the Granter of success.

Are Extreme Sports and Other Risky Activities Allowed?

Are Extreme Sports and Other

 Risky Activities Allowed?

Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaimīn

Question:

Is it allowed to take risks or put oneself in danger as we see nowadays in some forms of extreme sports that could lead to death for those practicing them?

Answer:

[Shaikh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ Al-ʿUthaimīn, may Allāh have mercy on him, said:]

This is prohibited [in Islam]. It is not allowed for a person to put himself in danger by way of things in which loss of life or injury are feared since Allāh, High is He above all, says:

وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا

And do not kill yourselves. Indeed, Allāh is Ever-Merciful with you and Caring. (Al-Nisāʾ, 29)

And if Allāh, High is He above all, has forbidden that—He said [what in English means], “Do not kill yourselves”—then, indeed, everything that leads to death or [even] leads to injury is no doubt prohibited [in Islam].

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Indeed, your blood, wealth, and honor are all, upon you, inviolable.”[1] So just as it is not permissible for a person to transgress against another, it is not permissible for him to transgress against himself by exposing himself to [activities] that contain a [risk of] death or injury.

Ibn Taymiyyah: Corruption on earth is due to disobedience and Shirk

Ibn Taymiyyah: Corruption on earth is

due to disobedience and Shirk

{Evil (sins and disobedience of Allaah, etc.) has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned (by oppression and evil deeds, etc.), that Allah may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return (by repenting to Allah, and begging His Pardon).} [Surah al-Room (30): 41]

Shaikh al-Islaam, Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:

Whoever contemplates on what is going on in the world, will find that the reason for every goodness is due to Tawheed and worship of Allaah تعالى and obedience to His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. And as for all the evil in the world - the Fitnah (trial), the hardship, the drought, being overpowered by the enemy and other than that - then the reason for it is opposing the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and calling upon other than Allaah (i.e. Shirk).

So whoever sincerely contemplates on this, will find that this is the case – specifically in himself and in other than him, generally and specifically. And there is no might or power except with Allaah.

[Majmoo` al-Fataawa (15/25)]

Note: If one were to re-read the statement of Shaikh al-Islaam رحمه الله more keenly, they will see a distinct feature in the way he رحمه الله arranged those words.

When he رحمه الله mentioned “goodness”, he began with Tawheed and Worship of Allaah, and then mentioned obedience to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

But when he رحمه الله mentioned “evil”, he first mentioned disobedience to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم before Shirk.

Know the reason why?

Because it happens that among those who claim to be upon Tawheed, SOME of them intentionally oppose the Sunnah without realizing the grave error.

Opposing the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, in matters big or small, is the beginning of all destructions.

{And let those who oppose the Messenger's (Muhammad’s) commandment beware, lest some Fitnah (disbelief, trials, afflictions, earthquakes, killing, overpowered by a tyrant) should befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.} [Surah al-Noor (24): 63]

Imaam Ahmad رحمه الله said: “Do you know what the Fitnah is? The Fitnah is Shirk. May be the rejection of some of his words would cause one to have doubt and deviation in his heart and thereby be destroyed.”

One great example that nobody should forget is when the Archers رضي الله عنهم أجمعين failed the Prophet's command on the day of Uhud. The victory turned into defeat.

When the Scholar Talks, and When He is Silent

When the Scholar Talks, and When He is Silent

It is reported that Al-Fuḍayl b. ʿAyyāḍ – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

The true faqīh (scholar) is the one who the fear of Allāh makes talk and the fear of Allāh makes silent. If he speaks it is by the Book and the Sunnah, and if he is silent, it is by the Book and the Sunnah. And if something is confusing to him and unclear, he withholds judgement and refers it back to whoever knows about it.

THE CONDITION OF THE ISLAMIC SOCIETY DUE TO THE DEATH OF THE SCHOLARS

THE CONDITION OF THE ISLAMIC

 SOCIETY DUE TO

THE DEATH OF THE SCHOLARS

From the sound narration of the Prophet () that he said:

"Indeed Allah does not remove the knowledge by removing it from the hearts of the people, but he removes the knowledge by the death of the scholars. Until no scholar remains, so the people take the ignorant as their religious leaders, so they will ask them for rulings, and they will give verdicts without knowledge, so they will stray, and lead others astray."

There Is No Sin Upon You

There Is No Sin Upon You

Question:

We had birds that we kept in a cage; daily, we would feed them, give them drink, and release them in the morning so they can cool themselves in the air. One day, however, we forgot to release them, and the sunheat affected them, resulting in their death. We regret having kept them in cages; please advise us ý do we have to make any atonement?

Answer:

If the situation is as you have described, there is no sin upon you, for Allaah Almighty says: Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error. [1] In an authentic Hadith, Allaahs Messenger related that Allaah Almighty responded to the invocation in this verse by saying, I have done so. [2] This was recorded by Muslim in his Sahih, and it shows that Allaah Almighty answers the supplication of his believing worshippers. And with Allaah is the facilitation to do what is right.

[1] Al-Baqarah 2:286. [2] Meaning, I punish you not when you forget or fall into error.

What Does It Mean If a Person Dies Suddenly?

What Does It Mean If a Person Dies Suddenly?

Question:

Is sudden death one of the signs of Resurrection [approaching], and is there anything that can protect [one] from [this kind of death]? Is seeking refuge from it enough?

Shaikh Ibn Bāz, may Allāh have mercy on him, said:

Some ḥadīths indicate that sudden death will become frequent toward the end of time—a wrathful seizure with regard to the wicked; a relief with regard to the believer. So a believer might suddenly be struck dead due to a stroke or some other cause: [that] is a relief for him and a blessing from Allah upon him, since he had already prepared himself, become rectified, got ready for death, and exerted himself in doing good. So he is taken suddenly while in a good state, upon righteousness and good deeds, and is spared the agonies, difficulties, and hardships of dying.

And [sudden death] can happen to the wicked [as well], but, [in their case], it is a seizure of wrath upon them—they are seized suddenly while in the most evil of states. We ask Allah to keep us safe from harm, [and] we seek Allah’s protection.
