How The Salaf kept Warm in Winter
Chapter: Concerning a Man using his Wife for Warmth after Ghusl
On the authority of Ibraheem at-Tameemi that;
'Umar used to warm himself with his wife after he practiced Ghusl.
On the authority of Umm Dardaa who said:
"Abu ad-Dardaa would practice Ghusl, then come while he was shivering and warm himself with me."
On the authority of Ibn 'Umar who said:
"I would practice Ghusl from Janabah, then warm myself with my wife before she practiced Ghusl."
On the authority of al-Haarith, who narrated on the authority of 'Ali that:
He used to practice Ghusl from Janabah, then come and warm himself with his wife before she practiced Ghusl, then he would pray without touching water [i.e. without performing ablution].
On the authority of Abu Mu'awiyyah, on the authority of al-'Amash, on the authority of Ibraheem, that;
"'Alqamah used to warm himself with his wife, then get up and make the ablution he makes for Salah."
'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas - may Allah be pleased with him - stated:
"That was the life of [the tribe of] Quraysh during the winter."

On the authority of 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ood - may Allah be pleased with him:
Indeed I would warm myself with her during the winter, as I would cool myself with her during the summer."

كيف تدفى السلف في الشتاء
بابٌ (في الرجلِ يَسْتَدْفِئُ بامرأتِه بعد أن يغتسلَ )
عن إبراهيم التيمي:
"أن عمرَ كان يستدفئُ بامرأته بعد الغُسل."
وعن أم الدرداء قالت:
"كان أبو الدرداء يغتسلُ، ثم يَجِيءُ وله قَرْقـَفَةٌ يستدفئُ بيَّ."
القَرْقـَفَةُ : اضطرابُ وطرطقةُ الأسنان، والارتجافُ من البرد .
وعن ابن عمر قال:
"إني لأغتسلُ من الجنابة، ثم أَتَكَوَّى بالمرأةِ قبل أن تغتسلَ."
وعن الحارث، عن علي:
"أنه كان يغتسل من الجنابة، ثم يَجِيءُ فيستدفئ بامرأته قبل أن تغتسل، ثم يصلي ولا يَمَسّ ماءً"
حدثنا أبو معاوية ، عن الأعمش ، عن إبراهيم ، عن علقمة :
"أنه كان يستدفئ بامرأته ثم يقوم فيتوضأ وضوءه للصلاة ."

قال ابنُ عباس رضي الله عنهما :
" ذاكَ عَيْشُ قريشٍ في الشتاء."
وعن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه :
"إني لأَسْتَدْفِئُ بها في الشتاءِ ، وأَتـَبَرَّدُ بِها في الصيف." ﻳﻌﻨﻲ ﺍﻣﺮﺃﺗَﻪ.
