The truth my brothers, is that
whoever has been provided with a woman, who is a student of knowledge, then
indeed he has been provided with much goodness. So it’s binding upon him to
honour her and to thank Allah for this blessing. I remind myself and my
brothers, on this occasion, that it is binding upon us to fear Allah with our
women.
A lot of Muslims (men) have good
character, good actions and everybody loves being close to him except his family
because when he enters the house he changes. In front of other people he is from
the best and gentlest of people. Smiling much and soft in speech. But when he
enters his house he changes and becomes angry, he gets angry for the smallest of
things, he swears about the smallest of things, he fights about the smallest of
things.
We must fear Allah in the apparent
and hidden. Our condition shouldn’t change: in front of people and likewise when
we are in our houses, our condition is one. We are observant of Allah. We must
honour the women of house: our wives, sisters, daughters, and mothers also.
Treat them how they ought to be treated. As I said, if the wife is a student of
knowledge, this is a great blessing. She supports you in obeying Allah and
supports you in goodness. So be thankful to Allah for this blessing, honour her
and also, support her in seeking knowledge.
