The Crescent Moon is not an Islamic Symbol Explained by Shaykh Salih Fawzan

The Crescent Moon is not an Islamic Symbol

Explained by Shaykh Salih Fawzan  حفظه الله

Question: May Allah reward you with good and treat you well. Why do the Muslims symbolize the crescent moon on the minarets of their Masjids?

Shaykh Fawzan: This is a custom they have taken and observed it. There is no basis for it from the standpoint of the religion. It is nothing more than a custom.

Failing to fast in Ramadan

Failing to fast in Ramadan

Shaykh Salih Al-Fawzan [حفظه الله] said:

❝Failing to fast in Ramadan without a [legitimate] excuse is a grave error and a huge crime. Whoever does this must make sincere Tawbah, regret what he has done, never do it again, and never miss another fast. He must also make up for the missed days.❞

The Ruling of the One Who Doesn’t Pray But Fast In Ramadaan (Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan may Allaah preserve him)

The Ruling of the One Who Doesn’t Pray But Fast In Ramadaan (Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan may Allaah preserve him)

Questioned posed to al-Allaamah Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him)

Q. What is the ruling of the one who fast the blessed (month of) Ramadaan without praying at all with no (legislated) excuse, knowing that we have advised him many times, but he has not listened?

A. The one who waste the prayer, the fast nor any other action is considered sound (i.e. accepted) from him. That is because the one who abandons the prayer has disbelieved and the action that comes from the disbeliever is not sound (i.e. accepted). The prayer is the second pillar from the pillars of Islaam and the fast is the fourth pillar. Therefore the prayer is given precedence over the fast and it is the pillar of Islaam.

Therefore the one who doesn’t pray, his fast or any other action is not accepted from him. Upon him is to repent to Allaah The Glorified and Most High and preserve the five daily prayers. Then after that, he preserves the rest of the affairs of his religion from the fast and other than it.

As long as he is not praying he is not a Muslim and his actions are not accepted from him. The prayer is the pillar of Islaam. Does a building stand without a pillar!? This is impossible.”

I Want to Marry a Salafi Sister but Her Father Performs Black Magic

 Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan

Questioner:

I want to marry a sunnī salafī girl who says that her father performs and deals with magic. So what is your advice for me in this regard and how should I interact with her father if I do marry her?

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān:

Stay away from her. Stay away from her. Allah will provide you with someone else.

DON'T BE AMAZED BY YOUR ACTIONS!

DON'T BE AMAZED BY YOUR ACTIONS!

Allāh described His believing slaves as those who perform righteous actions, are obedient, and strive in worship while they fear their Lord with severe fear because they do not know if their actions will be accepted or not. Therefore, the person must not be amazed by his actions regardless of what he does, because if Allāh does not accept it, then it will have no benefit, even if his actions are numerous and great. If his actions are not accepted, they will be like scattered dust particles; thus, it will have been toil and hard work without benefit.

The Fitnah of the Dajjal

The Fitnah of the Dajjal

Question: We hear about the Dajjaal and the Fitnah (tribulations) surrounding him, from which the Messenger (peace be upon him) sought refuge (in Allah), and we have been commanded to seek refuge (in Allah) from his fitnah. So who is the Dajjaal? And what are his attributes?

Answer: Dajjaal is a man who will appear towards the end of time, and Jews will follow him. His appearance is a sign of the Last Hour, and he will bring with him immense Fitan (tests and trials) which will have an adverse effect on the Iman (of Muslims). Quite possibly many people may perish because of his Fitnah, except those whom Allah protects. As for his attributes, he would be a Kafir man, blind in one eye. He will seek to divert people from their religion by whatever means possible. So his Fitnah and danger will be immense. It is obligatory upon us to seek refuge in Allah from his Fitnah, as we have been commanded (to do so) by the Prophet (peace be upon him).

The Obligation Of Fasting

The Obligation Of Fasting

Shaykh Sālih Ibn Fawzān Al-Fawzān حفظه الله said:

“The fast of Ramadān is obligatory upon every Muslim, and whoever embraces Islām during the month of fasting, then he only has to fast the remainder of the month. It is not necessary for him to make up what has passed from the beginning of the month. And the fast is obligatory upon the one who is mature. As for the child who has not reached puberty, then the fast is not obligatory upon him, yet his supererogatory fast is correct. It is proper for his guardian to order him with it if he is able, so he will become accustomed to it and be cultivated upon it.”

MAKE A LOT OF DU'Ā'..

MAKE A LOT OF DU'Ā'..

The Muslim must say a lot of du'ā', both inside the prayer and outside the prayer. Du'ā' inside the prayer is more virtuous, especially while the person is prostrating. Verily, he is the closest to his Lord while he is prostrating.

The Prophet encouraged us to supplicate a lot while in sujūd because the du'ā' is most likely to be answered in this position.

HE HOME IS A PLACE OF COMFORT

The home (is a place) in which the husband lives in tranquility, safety, and stability, and it is that which will reap fruits for his Ummah. The home (is a place) in which children are raised correctly which will result in the rectification of this nation by way of the rectification of the future generations. Does Vaseline invalidate wudu?

Does Vaseline invalidate wudu?

Answered by Shaykh Fawzan

Question: Does the use of Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on the hands or the feet

prevent the water from reaching the skin?

Shaykh Fawzan: Never. It does not prevent this. All of the oils that do not solidify upon the skin do not prevent the wudu from being correct, because the water runs upon the skin and it is not prevented from doing so, by Vaseline or other than it.

The argumentation between the creation will continue until the soul argues with the body

The argumentation between the creation will

continue until the soul argues with the body

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه said : "The argumentation between the creation will continue until the soul argues with the body.

•══════════•

The soul will say to the body: "You commited sins!"

The body will respond to the soul: "you commanded me to do it!"

Thus Allaah will send an Angel to settle the dispute between them.

The Àngel will say: "The example of you two is that of a paralyzed man & a blind man who enter a Garden.

The paralyzed man saw hanging fruit, so he said to the blind man:

"I see hanging fruit, but i am not able to stand up to reach it".

 The blind man said:

"I can stand up to reach it, but i cannot see it". Thus, he lifted him up, & the paralyzed man began to instruct him where to move so he could pluck the fruit".

The Àngel said: "upon which one of them is the punishment?

The soul & body said : "It is upon both of them collectively."

The angel said : "And thus, this is the same for both of you."

Vaccines in Islam

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked:
What is the ruling on giving treatment before sickness occurs, such as vaccinations?
He replied:
There is nothing wrong with giving treatment if there is the fear that the disease may occur because of the presence of an epidemic or other factors which may cause disease. There is nothing wrong with giving medicine to ward off the feared disease, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, according to the saheeh hadeeth, “Whoever eats seven dates of Madeenah in the morning will not be harmed by witchcraft or poison.” This is a kind of warding off a problem before it happens. So if there is the fear of sickness and a person is vaccinated against an infection that is present in the land or elsewhere, there is nothing wrong with that, because it is a kind of protection. But it is not permissible to wear or hang up amulets etc against sickness, the jinn or the evil eye, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade that, and explained that this is a kind of minor shirk [associating others in worship with Allaah], so it must be avoided.
Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 6/21

The importance of marriage contract in Islam

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him) said:

Among other conditions that are valid in marriage is if she stipulates that he should not take another wife. If he fulfils the condition (all well and good), otherwise she has the right to annul the marriage because of the hadeeth, “The condition which most deserves to be fulfilled is that by means of which intimacy becomes permissible for you.” Similarly, if she stipulates that he should not separate her from her children or parents, this condition is valid and if he breaks it, she has the right to annul the marriage. If she stipulates that her mahr should be increased or that it should be in a specific currency, the condition is valid and binding, and he has to fulfil it, and she has the right of annulment if it is broken. In that case she has the choice and may decide any time she wants and may annul it whenever she wants, so long as there is nothing on her part to indicate that she accepts it if she knows that he has gone against what was stipulated; in that case she would no longer have the option.

‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the one who he ruled was obliged to fulfil what his wife had stipulated, when the man said, “Divorce us in that case,” ‘Umar said: It is a must to fulfil the conditions, because of the hadeeth, “The believers are bound by their conditions.” Al-‘Allaamah Ibn al-Qayyim said: It is obligatory to fulfil these conditions which are the most deserving of being fulfilled. This is what is implied by sharee’ah, reason and sound analogy, if the woman did not agree to become a man's wife except on these conditions, and if it were not obligatory to fulfil them, then the marriage contract would not be based on mutual agreement, and it would be making something obligatory upon her that Allah and His Messenger have not made obligatory. End quote.

The Followers of Pharaoh Were Worse Than Polytheists | Explained by Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān

The Followers of Pharaoh Were Worse

Than Polytheists

Explained by Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān

Question: Are the followers of Pharaoh considered polytheists with regards to the Lordship of Allāh because they followed Pharaoh in his claim that he was the Lord?

Shaykh al-Fawzān: They were Mu’attilah (those who deny the existence of a Creator), they were not polytheists. They were Mu’attliah. They did not affirm the existence of the Lord. Pharaoh said:

"I am your lord, most high"
(sūrah an-Nāzi`āt 79:24)

Pharaoh said:
I have not known you to have a god other than me.
(sūrah al-Qaşaş 28:38)

He denied the existence of Allāh the Exalted and they believe him in his denial. Thus they became those who deny the existence of the Lord.

All atheists are like this; those who do not affirm the existence of Allāh. And they say everything comes from nature. They say nature is what brings everything into existence.

And they say, "There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us except time."
(sūrah al-Jāthiyah 45:24)

They don’t attribute these matters to Allāh the Exalted. These people are called atheists. They are not polytheists. They are those who deny the existence of the Creator. The polytheists are better than them because the polytheists affirm the existence of Allāh but they worship others along with Him. As for atheists, they do not acknowledge the existence of Allāh. And how many of these people are present today!
