The Believing Jinn Help The Believers Even Though The Believers May Not Realize It – Shaykh Ibn Baz

The Believing Jinn Help The Believers Even Though The Believers May Not Realize It

– Shaykh Ibn Baz

Shaykh Ibn Baaz:

The Muslims help their brothers among the jinn to obey Allaah and His Messenger just as they help their human brothers. Humans may help them in some matters without realizing it. They may help them to obey Allaah and His Messenger by teaching and reminding other humans, for the jinn may attend the lessons of humans in the mosques and elsewhere and benefit from them. Humans may also hear some things from the jinn which benefit them; they may wake them up to pray or draw their attention to things which may benefit them or harm them. All of this happens even though the jinn do not make themselves visible to humans. A jinn may make himself visible to some people when pointing them towards something good or something evil. This may happen, although it is rare. Usually they do not appear to humans, although their voices may be heard on some occasions when they wake a person for prayer or tell him of some things. In conclusion, the believing jinn help the believers even though the believers may not realize it, and they love everything good for them.

They may attend lessons, and they love to listen to the Quraan and knowledge, as stated above. The believers among the jinn attend the lessons of humans, at some times and in some lands, and they benefit from the lessons of humans. All of this happens and is well known. This has been clearly stated by many of the scholars whom the jinn contacted and asked about some issues; they told them that they had attended their lessons. All of this is well-known, and Allaah is the One Whose help we seek.

The World of Jinn (Spirits)

The World of Jinn (Spirits)

The infamous ‘spirit beings’ that are found in so many sources about Islaam. What

are they? Do they possess people? Are they Muslims?

Maybe there is a Jinn sitting in the corner of your room right now, or

even one behind you. If so, then how will you deal with this creation of

Allaah? Learn Islaam properly and you will be able to deal with all of

Allaah’s creation - and not just the Jinn.

Throughout history man has always had a deep attraction for the supernatural and the unseen. The existence of a world parallel to our own has always fascinated people. This world is commonly referred to as the spirit world, and almost every set of people have some concept of one. With some people, these spirits are no more then the souls of dead peopleor ghosts. With others, spirits are either the forces of good or the forces of evil - both battling against one another to gain influence over humanity. However, both of these explanations are more in tune with folk tales and fantasy. The true explanation of such a world comes from Islam. Like every other way, Islam also claims to explain this realm of the unseen. It is from this realm that Islam explains to us about the world of the Jinn. The Islamic explanation of the Jinn provides us with so many answers to modem day mysteries.

Without the knowledge of this world, the Muslims would become like the non-Muslims and be running around looking for any old answer to come their way. So, who or what are the Jinn?

Existence

The Jinn are beings created with free will, living on earth in a world parallel to mankind. The Arabic word Jinn is from the verb 'Janna' which means to hide or conceal. Thus, they are physically invisible from man as their description suggests. This invisibility is one of the reasons why some people have denied their existence. However, (as will be seen) the affect which the world of the Jinn has upon our world, is enough to refute this modem denial of one of Allaah's creation. The origins of the Jinn can be traced from the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Allaah says:

"Indeed We created man from dried clay of black smooth mud. And We created the Jinn before that from the smokeless flame of fire" (Surah Al-Hijr 15:26-27)

Thus the Jinn were created before man. As for their physical origin, then the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) has confirmed the above verse when he said: "The Angels were created from light and the Jinn from smokeless fire"[1]. It is this description of the Jinn which tells us so much about them. Because they were created from fire, their nature has generally been fiery and thus their relationship with man has been built upon this. Like humans, they too are required to worship Allaah and follow Islam. Their purpose in life is exactly the same as ours, as Allaah says:

"I did not create the Jinn and mankind except to worship Me" (Surah Ad-Dhariyat 51:56)

Jinns can thus be Muslims or non-Muslims. However, due to their fiery nature the majority of them are non-Muslims. All these non-Muslim Jinns form a part of the army of the most famous Jinn, Iblis- the Shaytan[2]. Consequently, these disbelieving Jinns are also called Shaytans (devils). As for the Jinns who become Muslims, then the first of them did so in the time of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) when a group of them were amazed by the recitation of the Qur'an. Allaah orders the Prophet to tell the people of this event:

"Say (O' Muhammed): It has been revealed to me that a group of Jinn listened and said; 'Indeed we have heard a marvellous Qur'an. It guides unto righteousness so we have believed in it, and we will never make partners with our lord." (Surah Al-Jinn 72:1-2)

In many aspects of their world, the Jinn are very similar to us. They eat and drink, they marry, have children and they die. The life span however, is far greater then ours. Like us, they will also be subject to a Final Reckoning by Allaah the Most High. They will be present with mankind on the Day of Judgement and will either go to Paradise or Hell.

Abilities

That which clearly distinguishes the Jinn from mankind, are their powers and abilities.

Allaah has given them these powers as a test for them. If they oppress others with them, then they will be held accountable. By knowing of their powers, we can often make sense of much of the mysteries which go on around us. One of the powers of the Jinn, is that they are able to take on any physical form they like. Thus, they can appear as humans, animals trees and anything else. Over the last few years the interest in the subject of aliens and UFO's has become heightened. Programmes such as the X-files and the Outer limits have increased the popularity of the theory that aliens exist. Thousands of people have sighted strange looking creatures all over the world. These sightings however, have still not proven substantially that aliens exist. Rather - and it seems more plausible all the sightings of such creatures were just Jinns parading in different forms. So the next time you see something that looks like E.T, its most probably just a wicked Jinn trying to scare and confuse you!

The ability to possess and take over the minds and bodies of other creatures is also a power which the Jinn have utilised greatly over the centuries. This however, is something which has been prohibited to them as it is a great oppression to possess another being.

Human possession is something which has always brought about great attention. But the true knowledge of this subject is rare amongst the people. Over the last 3 decades the subject of possession has become very commercialised. During the 70's films such as The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby were used to educate people about possession. However, because such institutions (the film industry) were heavily influenced by Christianity, knowledge of the subject was non-existent. Rather then educate people about Jinn possession, films such as The Exorcist just tended to scare the living daylights out of us![3]

Only through Islam can we understand such a phenomena. We know as Muslims, that Jinns possess people for many reasons. Sometimes it is because the Jinn or its family has been hurt accidentally. It could be because the Jinn has fallen in love with the person.

However, most of the time possession occurs because the Jinn is simply malicious and wicked. For this reason we have been told by the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) not to loiter in those places where the Jinns reside, e.g. graveyards, ruins, deserts, market places etc. We have also been commanded to recite the Qur'an frequently in our houses as the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: 'Indeed, the shaytan flees from the house in which Surah AI-Baqarah (the 2nd chapter of the Qur'an) is recited"[4].

If a person does become possessed, then the name of Allaah has to be used in expelling the Jinn. If we look at the practice of the Prophet and his companions, we find many duas (supplications) to exorcise the Jinn. All these duas invoke Allaah to help the possessed person. How contrary this is to many modern-day exorcists. Many exorcists, Muslim and non-Muslim, often invoke the names of others besides Allaah to exorcise the Jinn[5]. When the Jinn does leave, these people believe that their way was successful. However, this is a ploy of the Jinn, as it knows that if it obeys the exorcist, then it has succeeded in making him worship others besides Allaah i.e. commit shirk. The Jinn often returns when the exorcist leaves, as it knows that nothing except the words of Allaah can stop it from oppressing others.

It is not only humans which are possessed, but also animals, trees and other objects. By doing this, the evil Jinn hope to make people worship others besides Allaah. The possession of idols is one way to do this. Not so long ago the world-wide phenomenon of Hindu idols drinking milk, shocked the world. From Bombay to London, Delhi to California, countless idols were lapping up milk. Ganesh[6] the elephant god, Hanuman the monkey god and even Shiva lingam, the male private organ(!), all seemed to guzzle down the milk as if there was no tomorrow! Unfortunately people were taken in by this (including Muslims) and many flocked to feed (?) the Hindu gods. Anyone who knows about Jinn possession, will undoubtedly know that this is a classic attempt to make people commit shirk. And it worked, as many people started to worship these lifeless pieces of wood and marble.

Anyone with half a brain would say to themselves, 'why on earth does a god need to be fed?!! Surely if Ganesh, Hanuman or Shiva were divine then they wouldn't need feeding?'

However, such common sense seemed to be lacking as the Jinns played havoc with these gullible people.

The Occult

Through their powers of flying and invisibility, the Jinn are the chief component in occult activities. Voodoo, Black magic, Poltergeists, Witchcraft and Mediums can all be explained through the world of the Jinn. Likewise, so can the illusions and feats of magicians.

Because the Jinn can traverse huge distances over a matter of seconds, their value to magicians is great.

In return for helping them in their magic, the Jinns often ask for the magicians to sell their souls to them and even to Iblis. Thus the magicians take the Jinn andIblis as lords besides Allaah. In our day, some of the feats performed by magicians and entertainers are without doubt from the assistance of the Jinn. Making the Statue of Liberty disappear, flying across the Grand Canyon and retrieving a ship from the Bermuda Triangle [7], have all been done by the Jewish magician David Copperfield. There is NO way that a man could do such things without the assistance of the Jinn. It would not be surprising therefore, if David Copperfield had sold his soul to Iblis himself. Because of their involvement with the Jinn, and its result in shirk, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: "The prescribed punishment for the magician is that he be executed by the sword"[8]. Some may argue that this is barbaric, but if, the likes of David Copperfield truly had powers, then they could just put theirheads back on again!!

One of the most frequent activities associated with the Jinn, is fortune telling. Before the advent of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) fortune-tellers and soothsayers were wide spread. These people would use their associates from the Jinn to find out about the future. The Jinns would go to the lowest heaven and listen to the Angels conversing amongst themselves about events of the Future which they heard from Allaah.

The Jinns would then inform the fortune-tellers. This is why before the time of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) many fortune-tellers were very accurate in their predictions. However, upon the Prophet's arrival the heavens were guarded intensely by the Angels, and any Jinn who tried to listen was attacked by meteors (shooting stars):

"And We have guarded it (the heavens) from every accursed devil, except one who is able to snatch a hearing and he is pursued by a brightly burning flame" (Surah Al-Hijr 15:18)

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) also said: "They (the Jinn) would pass the information back down until it reaches the lips of a magician or forrtune-teller Sometimes a meteor would overtake them before they could pass it on. If they passed it on before being struck, they would add to it a hundred lies"[9]. Thus, it is clear from this as to how fortune-tellers get predictions of the future right. It is also evident as to why they get so many wrong. Men like Nostradamus[10] are an example, as some of his predictions of the future were correct whilst many were completely wrong. Unfortunately, the amount of fortune telling which occurs amongst the Muslims is also increasing. By visiting Muslim lands such as Morocco, one is able to see as to how much inter Jinn-fortune-teller activity there really is. If you look up at the sky on a clear night in Morocco, you will see the heavens ablaze with shooting stars! A clear display of the devils being chased away from the heavens.

Fortune-tellers also operate through the Qareen. The Qareen is the Jinn companion which is assigned to every human being. It is this Jinn which whispers to our base desires and constantly tries to divert us from righteousness. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: "Everyone of you has been assigned a companion from the Jinn. The companions asked: Even you O Messenger of Allaah? And the Prophet replied: Even me, except that Allaah has helped me against him and he has submitted. Now he only tells me to do good"'[11]. Because the Qareen is with a person all his life, it knows all that has happened to the person from the cradle to the grave. By making contact with the Qareen, the fortune-teller is thus able to make out that it is he who knows about the person. He looks in his crystal ball or the palm of a person and proceeds to amaze him with knowledge which no one else knows[12]. The severity of going to a fortune-teller is such that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: "The prayer of one who approaches a fortune-teller and asks him about anything, will not be accepted for forty days or nights"[13] and: "Whosoever approaches a fortune-teller and believes in what he says, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammed"[14]

The effects of the Jinn are not just limited to fortune-tellers. Other activities such as oujia boards and seances, which are used to contact the dead, are manipulated by the Jinn. 'Are you there Charlie? Speak to us Charlie!!' are the sort of words spoken by anxious relatives (names are obviously different!) seeking to make contact with their loved ones. And it is when the Jinn starts to talk and communicate as 'Charlie', that the people are truly fooled [15].

One of the biggest manipulations of the Jinn is through visions. Through these visions the Jinns are more likely to lead people away from the worship of Allaah then any other way.

When a person sees a vision in front of his eyes it is something which is very hard to explain away. Only by having knowledge of the world of the Jinn and conviction in Allaah, can a person fight such a trial. The countless numbers of visions of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary over the centuries has been a popular choice for the devils. It almost seems as if leading Christians astray is the most easiest trick for the Jinns! Not only are Christians fooled by these visions, but often the Jinns possess and begin to talk from their voices. To the Christians this is known as the tongues of the Angels and thus a proof for their faith.

However, the amount of unintelligible nonsense and rubbish which is heard is a clear proof that this is in fact the tongues of the devils! For other people, visions of their parents or relatives are commonplace. By taking on the form of peoples parents, the Jinns can convince people that the souls of dead people still mix with the people of the earth. This is why so many people believe in ghosts.

The onslaught of satanic visions has also hit the Muslims. Many Muslims claim to have seen visions of the Prophet Muhammed (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and even Allaah! By doing this, Shaytan is able to lead astray the weak Muslims. Through such visions, Muslims are often told that the commands of Islam are not applicable to them. The Jinns tell them that Prayer, Fasting, Hajj etc. are not obligatory for them. It is a great deception and unfortunately one which has been very effective. The extent of satanic visions still continues to this day. The recent death of Diana Princess of Wales sparked off great love and adoration for this woman. In fact the grief of the British people was such, that it was as if Diana was something divine. No sooner had the mourning of Diana reached its peak, that visions of her were already being seen at Hampton Court Palace! If these visions did occur, the desire of Iblis and his army of Jinn to capitalise on this event, was evident. Such visions are clear attempts by Iblis to lead mankind away from the path of Allaah [16].

The world of the Jinn is one which is both sinister and intriguing. By knowing of this world we can explain many of the mysteries and issues which bother us. By doing this we can avoid the extremes which the people have gone to; nothing being more extreme then worshipping others besides Allaah. By learning the Tawheed of Allaah, we defend ourselves from these hidden allies of Iblis:

"Indeed he (Iblis) and his tribe watch you from a position where you cannot see them" (Surah Al-A'raf 7:27)

Maybe there is a Jinn sitting in the corner of your room right now, or even one behind you.

If so, then how will you deal with this creation of Allaah? Learn Islam properly and you will be able to deal with all of Allaah's creation - and not just the Jinn. By becoming true Muslims and followers of Islam, the fear of Iblis, Jinns and anything else will leave us - nothing will touch the Believer unless Allaah wills.

2 It must be remembered that Iblis is a Jinn and not an Angel. The concept of the Devil being a fallen Angel is from Christianity and not

Islam.

3 In fact when The Exorcist was first shown on cinema, it was so scary that many people fainted and one even died!

4 Authentic - Reported by Tirmidhee

5 Whilst Christians invoke the name of Jesus, many Muslims invoke the name of pious Muslim saints! The rituals which are conducted by many Muslims are more akin to voodoo then the exorcism practised by the Prophet and his companions!!

6 Ganesh, the elephant headed deity, seemed to be the biggest drinker! In fact it didn't just stop at milk. At the time of these occurrences, a woman in India decided to see if Ganesh would drink anything else - so she offered him whiskey!! And Lo and behold Ganesh drank the Whiskey!!! Suffice to say, the woman was kicked out of India.

7 The ship which was recovered was more then 50 years old. It subsequently caught alight and was conveniently destroyed.

9 Reported by Bukhari - Eng. Trans. Vol.7, p.439, No.657

10 Michel de Nostradamus was a famous French soothsayer of the 16th century.

11 Reported by Muslim - Eng. Trans. Vol.4, p.1472, No.6757

12 The classic example of how fortune tellers can be wrong is the case of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed. Both went to see a fortune teller who told Diana that she would live a long and happy life. A few weeks later, on August 31st 1997, Diana and Dodi Fayed were dead. After this the fortune tellers flew for cover, as their evil art showed its decadence.

15 Ouija boards are so misleading, that people have even managed to get in touch with the spirit of Jack the Ripper!!

When ignorance becomes widespread, sorcerers, soothsayers, devils and so on increase and cooperate with one another

When ignorance becomes widespread,

 sorcerers, soothsayers, devils and

so on increase and cooperate with one another

From the excellent book (published by al-ibaanah) The Rules and Etiquettes of Ruqya, by Shaikh Saalih Aalush-Shaikh p.37-39

“When Shaikh Abdullah Al-Qar’aawee1 came to our region, many people were suffering from illnesses; they were bed-ridden and couldn’t get up. And what was this due to? It was due to the Jinn and so on and so forth. They would go out and come across the Jinn at night in trees and upon the roads and so on, and the devils would take over them. This is because they were ignorant. They didn’t have any understanding of Tawheed.

So when he (i.e. Shaikh Al-Qar’aawee) came and spread Tawheed, not ruqyah or anything else, may Allah bless you, all of these things came to an end. All of these (possessions and illnesses) came to an end once Tawheed and knowledge spread. When Tawheed and knowledge spread, these things go away and come to an end. And when ignorance becomes widespread, sorcerers, soothsayers, devils and so on increase and cooperate with one another.

So I advised him to do as the good doers in the past did, which was to call to Tawheed and wage war against shirk and false superstitions such that the devils left them and they had no need for people to perform ruqyah on them from devils, sorcerers or anyone else….”

[1]Translator’s Note:Shaikh Abdullah Al-Qar’aawee was born in 1315H in Saudi Arabia where he played a great role in reviving the call to Islaam, particularly in its southern regions, making Saamitah the center of his efforts. He studied under such Scholars as Shaikh Muhammad bin Ibtaheem, the former muftee of Saudi Arabia, and produced students of his own such as Shaikh Haafidh Al-Hakamee. He passed away in 1389H, may Allah have mercy on him.

Three things that Iblis and his troops rejoice about

Three things that Iblis

 and his troops rejoice about

When Iblis and his soldiers gather, they don’t rejoice for anything as much as three things:

A believer who kills a believer.

A man who dies upon kufr.

And a heart in which is fear of poverty.

The Enemy of Man

The Enemy of Man

Shaikhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) said, “Every time a person wants to turn his heart to Allah, whispers of other matters come to him.

The Shaytan is like a bandit; every time a person wants to travel towards Allah, he wants to intercept him. Hence, it was said to one of the salaf, ‘The Jews and the Christians say, we don’t experience waswaas.

He replied, ‘They are right! What would Shaytan do with a ruined house?’

Fear of the Jinn–Shaikh Rabee

Fear of the Jinn–Shaikh Rabee

Question:
Does fearing the Jinn enter into natural fear or not?

Answer:
Fearing the jinn; if it is inner fear and if it is believed that the jinn can benefit and harm you, then this enters into shirk: ‘And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief.’ [Surah Al-Jinn Verse 6]
And in the most part/cases fear of the jinn – and Allah knows best – falls into the fear (that is regarded to be) worship; because it is believed that by way of it (jinn) you can be harmed or benefitted, whilst no one has the ability to cause harm or benefit except Allah, neither the jinn nor the people, as the Messenger of Allah sallaallaahu alaihi wa sallam said: “Know that if the nation were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit with anything except that which Allaah has already recorded for you. If they gather to harm you by something, they would not be able to harm you by anything except what Allaah has already recorded against you.” (Tirmidhee Hasan saheeh)
And the true believer does not fear (anyone or anything) except Allah (The Mighty and Majestic). “So fear them not, but fear me if indeed you are (true) believers” [Aali Imran verse 175]; Meaning the inner fear, the fear (that is regarded to be) worship.  As for fear of a snake, a lion or a corrupt person – meaning he who attacks you and you are not able to resist/fight him, then this is natural fear (and) it does not harm. This does not harm – Inshaa Allah – and it has no effect on the Aqeedah.
However fear of jinn in most cases is a fear established upon corrupted beliefs!  The Messenger sallaallaahu alaihi wa sallam has given you weapons and has taught you; Read ayatul kursi, read Surah al Falaq and Surah an Nas to be protected.  The remembrance of Allah (The Mighty and Majestic) protects you from them. Use the means which will protect you from them and from every type of harm—from snakes, scorpions and from other than them, (reciting):
I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.) (Recite three times in the evening.)  If you said this nothing will come to you (of harm), neither a jinn nor a snake nor other than them.  Nothing will harm you (by permission of Allah) and this is (when) it is done with sincerity and truthfulness.  May Allah bless you all.

Like a dumb Shaytan!

Like a dumb Shaytan!

Indeed, what kind of piety is there in a person who witnesses Allāh’s sanctities being violated, his religion abandoned, the Sunnah of His Messenger shunned, and yet remains still with a cold heart and a shut mouth? Such a person is like a dumb Shaytan!

An Easy Way to Keep Devils Out of Your House by Reciting Two Blessed, Ancient Verses

An Easy Way to Keep Devils Out of Your

House by Reciting Two Blessed, Ancient Verses

An-Nu’maan ibn Bashir narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Indeed Allaah wrote a Book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, He sent down two aayahs from it with which He ended Surah al-Baqarah—if they are recited for three nights in a home, no Shaitaan shall come near it.”

Saheeh at-Targheeb, no. 1476, al-Albaani said, “Saheeh.” [Translation taken from English translation of Al-Tirmidhi, slightly edited.]

The two verses are:

‘Āmanar-Rasūlu bimā ‘unzila ‘ilayhi mir-rabbihi wal-Mu’uminūna ۚ kullun ‘Āmana billāhi wa Malā’ikatihi wa Kutubihi wa Rusulihi Lā nufarriqu baina ‘aĥadin mir-Rusulihi ۚ wa qālū sami`nā wa ‘Aţa`nā ۖ  Ghufrānaka Rabbanā wa ‘ilaikal-Maşīr.

“The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allaah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say, “We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers.” And they say, “We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, Our Lord, and to You is the return (of all).””

“Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. “Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error. Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us. Our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Protector! And give us victory over the disbelieving people.””

On Your Devil

On Your Devil

Ibn al-Qayyim said,

“So whoever does not punish his devil in this abode through the remembrance of Allaah تعالى and tawheed, and seeking forgiveness from Him and obeying Him, then his devil will punish him in the Hereafter with the torment of the Fire—so everyone must punish his devil or else his devil will punish him.”

Badaa’i’ut-Tafseer, vol. 5, p. 450.

Iblis said to Nooh : ‘There are five things that cause people to become destroyed’

Iblis said to Nooh : ‘There are
five things that cause people to
become destroyed’

‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar (radhi Allaahu anhuma) said:

While on the Ark, [Prophet] Nooh (‘alayhis-salam) noticed an old man whom he did not recognise. Nooh inquired: ‘What brought you here?’ He replied: ‘I came to strike the hearts of your followers, so their hearts become with me, while their bodies with you.’ Nooh responded: ‘Leave O enemy of Allah.’

Iblis said: ‘There are five things that cause people to become destroyed (deviated). I will inform you of three and not of the other two’. It was revealed to Nooh that he needed not know the three, but that he should enquire about the two.”

Iblis said: ‘The two that are certain to work are: envy: I was cursed because of my envy, and became a stoned devil. And the second is eagerness (to have more) : The entire paradise was made permissible to Adam (‘alayhis-salam) . I got what I wanted from him because of his eagerness.’

Ibn Abee al-Dunya in Maka’d al-Shaytaan , 65/ 44.

Jihaadush Shaytaan

Jihaadush Shaytaan

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

“As for Jihad of the Shaytaan, it consist of two levels:

1. Striving against him by repelling that which he presents to the servant from the affairs of evil doubts and conjecture to the faith (of the servant).

2. Striving against him by repelling that which he presents from the corrupt intentions and evil desires.

Therefore, the first category of striving takes place with having certainty.

The second category of striving takes place with having patience.

With the fulfillment of both categories, of striving (against the Shaytaan), the servant will become one who is an Imaam (leader) and a Haadi (guide) in the religion.

Just as Allah has stated (what is translated to mean):

“We have made from amongst them leaders guiding by our command when they were patient and certain about Our signs/verses.”

(Soorah As-Sajdah: 24)

Allah, glory be to Him, the One far removed from any imperfection, has informed (us) that leadership in the religion is attained by way of having patience and certainty.

The patience repels the evil desires and corrupt intentions.

The certainty repels the doubts and (false) conjecture.”

A village possessed by demons

Five Sons Of Iblees

Five Sons Of Iblees

Mujāhid رحمه الله said: Iblees has five sons, he has appointed each of them on one of his affairs, their names are: Thabr (ثبر), al-A'war (الأعور), Musawwaṭ (مسوط), Dāsim (داسم) and Zulunbūr (زلنبور),

• As for Thabr: He is responsible for calamities. He orders people to rip their clothes, slap their cheeks and make the call of ignorance when stricken by calamity

• al-A'war: He is responsible for fornication (Zinā). He beautifies it and orders others to commit it

• Musawwaṭ: He is responsible for lies. He hears the news and transfers it to someone else, who in turn, goes to a gathering of people and tells them

• Dāsim: He shows a wife’s faults to her husband and makes him angry with her

• Zulunbūr: He is responsible for the market place. He sticks his flag (Fitnah) therein.

Seeking aid from Jinn

Seeking aid from Jinn

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“For those who recite (perform the Ruqyah) on a patient, it is not permissible for them to seek help of the Jinn even if they are Muslims, nor asking them (for a need) – because it a means of Shirk [1]. As for the recitation (of the Qur’aan) to warn the Jinn and to remind them of Allaah, then there is no problem in that. And as for the narrations from the Jinn, they are not acceptable, as they are “Majhool” (unknown and thus unreliable) [2].”

[1] Because normally the Jinn do not help unless an act of Shirk or Kufr is done to please them – like reciting the aayaat from the Qur’aan backwards etc.

[2] Since we cannot see the Jinn, we cannot know their condition – are they reliable or not, are they telling the truth or not – their status is unknown and thus, they cannot be relied upon.

Ponder…

Ponder…

‘O Children of Adam! Let not Shaitân deceive you, as he got your parents  out of Paradise’
al-A’raf:27
Servant of Allah! Ponder the removal of your father, Adam, from Paradise, the abode of security, and his descent to the abode of disgrace and abasement. The reason for this was none other than the accursed shaytaan. Your Master has prohibited you from obeying him and ordered you to disobey him. Indeed in this obedience lies the displeasure of ar-Rahmaan and disobeying him necessitates residing in Paradise and the descent of divine pleasure.
Allaah, Glorified and Exalted said:

‘Shaitân (Satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality
al-Baqarah: 268
So whoever obeys him, he forsakes him, diverts him from true guidance an opens the doors to misguidance and ignominy in his heart.

The Meeting Between Yahyah az-Zimmiy and Shaytaan

The Meeting Between Yahyah az-Zimmiy and Shaytaan

Abridged: The Meeting Between Yahyah az-Zimmiy and ShaytaanDerived Benefit by Shaykh Rabee’ ibn Haadee ‘Umayr al-Madkhalee
Abdillaah Al-Qazweeniy also narrated to us, saying: Yahyaa Ibnu Abdaka Al-Qazweeniy said: I heard Yahyaa Ibn Yoosuf Az-Zummiy saying: Once I was taking a midday nap in one of the sandstone inns, then suddenly a powerful creature (of  a strange and frightening appearance) entered upon me, so I said: ”Who are you?”  He said: ”You not scared O father of Zakariyyah!” I said: ”Yes, (i.e. I am not scared), who are you”, and I stood up ready to fight him.  So he said:  “I am Abu Murra (i.e. shaytaan.”)  So I said: Laa HayyaakAllaah– ‘’May Allaah not give you life- (i.e. may He not maintain your life upon good).” So he said: ”Had I known that you were in this house I would not have entered and I would have resided in another house. This has been my place of residence since I came to Khurasaan.”  I said: ”Where did you come from?” He said: ”From Iraq.”  So I said:”What did you do in Iraq?” He said: “I have left a vicegerent in it.”  I said: ”Who is he?”  He said:”Bishr Al-Marreesiy.”   I said: ”What is he calling to (i.e. propagating)?”  He said: ”He is  propagating) that the Qur’aan is created, and I came to Khurasaan and also left a vicegerent in it.“ I said: ”What do you say about the Qur’aan?”  He said: “And even though I am an accursed devil, I say that the Qur’aan is the speech of Allaah and it is not created.”…
Shaykh Rabee’ said: “… This story was narrated from Yahyah Ibn Yoosuf  (Abu Zakariyyah) with an authentic chain of transmission.  shaytaan came to him whilst he was in a house that resembles a hotel, where strangers and those arriving at a place take as their place of residence.  Shaytaan entered upon him and said: “You not scared of me?”  So Abu Zakariyyah said to him: “No, I am not scared of you, and who are you?”  So shaytaan said: “I am Abu Murra; i.e. I am shaytaan—the big shaytaan–May the curse of Allaah be upon him.” Yahyah was ready to fight him, so shaytaan said: ‘’I am Abu Murra.’’ Yahyah said to him: ”May Allaah not give you life (i.e. may He not maintain your life upon goodness.)
Yahyah was firm and strong at heart in challenging shaytaan, because a person may not be able to face the Jinn.  There are many people who die out of fear when they see the Jinn.
However, some people are able to face the Jinn and defeat them and amongst them was Umar Ibnul Khattaab (radiyallaahu-anhu), because he did not walk a path except that shaytaan took a different path.
And Abu Hurairah  (radiyallaahu-anhu) was from such people because he captured shaytaan three times whilst shaytaan was stealing from the food the Messenger(sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) asked Abu Hurairah to guard.
A strong believer neither fears the Jinn nor the people. He does not fear anyone except Allaah, especially the type of fear that is tantamount to shirk—we seek Allaah’s protection from this.  Some people have a fear that is tantamount to shirk—fear of the dead and the devils. We seek Allaah’s protection from calamity. However, Yahyah-Abu Zakariyyah did not fear, rather he was strong at heart and strong in facing shaytaan
So shaytaan said to him: “Had I known that you were in this house, I would not have entered.”  This proves that shaytaan does not have knowledge of the unseen and the Jinn do not know the unseen, just as Allaah stated in the story of Sulaymaan (alayhis-salaam :(“Then when We decreed death for him [Sulaiman (Solomon)], nothing informed them (jinns) of his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his stick, so when he fell down, the jinns saw clearly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have stayed in the humiliating torment.” [Soorah Sabah: Ayah: 14]
Allaah said: “Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person.  Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. [Soorah Shu-araa Ayah: 221-223]
The devils steal from the news of the heavens by snatching a statement and descend with it; then they relate it to the soothsayer or the magician and add a hundred lies to it.  This person who receives this from the devils is a shaytaan, a soothsayer and a magician. But whether he is a soothsayer, a shaytaan or a magician, they all receive slander and lies from shaytaan.  They are liars because whoever narrates a narration whilst knowing that it is a lie, then indeed he is one of the liars.
So Yahyah asked shaytaan where he came from and he said that he was from Iraq.  The trials and tribulations flared up in Iraaq.  So Yahyah said to him: “What did you do in Iraq?” He said: “I left a vicegerent in it.“  Yahyah said to him: “Who is he?“  He said: “Bishr Al-Marreesiy.”  Therefore, the callers to innovation and misguidance are the vicegerents of shaytaan and the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets and their vicegerents Inshaa-Allaah.
The callers to innovation, falsehood, disbelief and misguidance are vicegerents of Iblees and his armies.  Therefore be cautious of being amongst the army of shaytaan or amongst his vicegerents.
Then Yahyah asked shaytaan about what Bishr Al-Marreesiy was calling to? He said that he was saying that the Qur’aan is created.  This alone is a great achievement for shaytaan, because it brought about strife, differing and such and such.
However, there are innovations greater than it– and protection is sought from Allaah—being propagated by many people and you will find that it is the hundredth one amongst his/their innovations.  These people are more severe and they cause more strife in being the vicegerents of shaytaan than Bishr Al-Marreesiy.  And I (i.e. Shaikh Rabee) have said to some of those who defend some of the contemporary people of innovations:  What is your resentment against Bishr al-Marreesiy and what led both the people of Sunnah and the people of innovation in this Ummah to drop him? He said: ‘’Because he said that the Qur’aan is created.’’  I said: Such and such joins him in this affair and he has other big innovations that are greater than this, so how is it that you do not tremble.  Watch out against blindness O brothers!  We seek Allaah’s protection from blindness and misguidance.  We seek Allaah’s protection from calamity, especially when these people attribute themselves to the salafi manhaj with their calamities.  The distress will be very heavy and the calamity will be greater if the supporters of the big innovations make claims and ascribe themselves to the salafi Manhaj.  By Allaah this is a distress upon the Ummah, for many have harmed themselves and harmed the stupid and ignorant people.  We ask Allaah for well-being!
Shaytaan then said: ‘’then I came to khurasaan…..’’: This is the east, as it has been stated that the horn of shaytaan will rise from there.  The horn of shaytaan rose in Iraq and its surrounding areas—the innovations of the Raafidah (Shia), the Khawaarij, the Mutazilah, the Jahmiyyah and other than them.  And also in Iraq arose the innovation that the Qur’aan is created.  Shaytaan raised his horn from this east and we ask Allaah (The Blessed and Most High) to prevent Islaam and the Islamic nation from its evil.
So Yahyah said to shaytaan: “What do you say about the Qur’aan?” That is:  If you (shaytaan) have this zeal and a vicegerent for this innovation, then what is your view about it?  He (shaytaan) said: “And even though I am an accursed devil, I say that the Qur’aan is the speech of Allaah and it is not created.’’ Shaytaan laughs at the people and ruins them, Allaah said: “He only invites his Hizb(followers) that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.” We seek Allaah’s protection (from that).
Alright, some of the callers to Islaam would say to you that he does not believe in such and such.  For example, it is said to him: “What do you say about wahdatul-wujood (i.e. oneness of Being—the belief of kufr which means that everything that is seen is Allah or a manifestation of Allah?”   Alright, he says that he does not believe in wahdatul wujood, but he calls to it!  He is a shaytaan and he is more of a filth that those who fall to this innovation.
They say to you: such-and-such does not utter the innovation of wahdatul wujood, yet he is the utterer and author of it. Was it a slip of the tongue and the pen; however he praises the people of wahdatul wujood!?  If he does not believe it, then he is worse than them and this is amongst the plots of shaytaan, for he (shaytaan) does not believe that the Qur’aan is created yet he calls to it and is zealous about it.  For example: A (person) calls to socialism, Judaism or Christianity and he praises these creeds whilst not believing in them! Paul called to Christianity whilst not believing in it and he was more of a disbeliever amongst them because he does not believe that Eesaa is the son of Allaah and that he is the third of the three or that he is Allaah, yet he fabricated these beliefs; therefore he is more of a disbeliever than the Christians.  This is the same as the affair of the one who calls to innovation—he calls to an innovation that is tantamount to disbelief or an innovation that is not tantamount to disbelief, then he is worse than the one who believes in it but does not call to it.”
