Sayings of the Scholars: Shaykh Rabee' 'In these times, injustice has proliferated'

Shaykh Rabee': 'In these times,

injustice has proliferated'

Shaykh Rabee‘ bin Hādi al-Madkhali, [may Allāh preserve him], said:

“In these times, injustice has proliferated, and the sanctity of the honour of innocent believers is being transgressed, wrongfully, tyrannically, and with blatant aggression.”

TAKE MY BLOOD NOT MY RELIGION

TAKE MY BLOOD NOT MY RELIGION

Suwayd b. Ghafalah rahimahullaah said:

'Umar b. al-Khattaab (d. 23H) - radiallaahu 'anhu - said to me:

"Perhaps you will live long after me, so obey the ruler even if he is an Abyssinian slave. And even if he oppresses you, be patient; and if he beats you, remain patient and if he calls you to a matter that is detrimental to your religion then say: I hear and obey (you), take my blood but not my religion. And do not split away from the Jamaa'ah (the united body of the Muslims)."

Explanation by Imaam al-Aajurree rahimahullaah:

"So if a person says: 'What is your understanding concerning the statement of 'Umar (radiallaahu 'anhu) which he mentioned?' Then it is said to him (i.e. the questioner): "It is possible - and Allaah, the Most High, knows best - for us to say: 'Whoever is put in authority over you whether he is from the Arab or other than them, black or white, or a foreigner then you must obey him in that which there is no disobedience in it to Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic. Moreover, if he prevents you from your rights, he beats you unjustly (without due right), he violates your honour, and takes your wealth (by force), then that should not make you revolt against him by drawing your sword out to fight him. And do not go out revolting alongside a Khaarijee to fight him, and do not incite others to rebel against him but rather be patient with him.'

And it could also be understood that "if he calls you to a matter which is detrimental to your religion" to mean other than this viewpoint; and it could be taken to mean that he orders you with killing someone who is not deserving of being killed, or to cut a limb off someone who does not deserve that, or to beat someone who it is impermissible to beat, or to forcibly take someone's wealth who it is not right to take his wealth, or to wrong or oppress someone whom it is neither permissible for him nor for you to oppress. So if he says to you: 'If you do not do that which I order you with then I will certainly kill you or severely beat you.' Then say: Take my blood but not my religion.' That is due to the statement of the Prophet (ﷺ): "There is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to the Creator." And his (ﷺ) statement: "Obedience is only in that which is good."

[Explanation taken from ash-Sharee'ah of al-Aajurree (no.71), checking by Dr ad-Damyajee, Dar al-Watan print].

Reference for narration: Reported by Ibn Abee Shaybah in al-Musannaf (12/544), as-Sunnah of al-Khallaal (1/111), ash-Sharee'ah (no.48) [and it is] Saheeh.

WHAT ARE THE RIGHTS OF THE MUSLIMS ON YOU?

WHAT ARE THE RIGHTS OF

THE MUSLIMS ON YOU?

Allaah the Most High says:

إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ

"The believers are but brothers (to each other)" ¹

So it is obligatory to take them as brothers, meaning:

• That you love for them what you love for your own self;

• That you dislike for them what you dislike for your own self;

• And that you do your very best to help them, correct what is between them, bring their hearts together, and unite them upon the Truth.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

Every Muslim is a brother to another Muslim; he does not oppress him, forsake him, lie to him, or degrade him

it is also obligatory to give every one of the Muslims their specific rights, whether they are parents, relatives, neighbors, friends or coworkers.

Hadith: My nation will be afflicted

by the diseases of the former nations.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “My nation will be afflicted by the diseases of the former nations.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what are the diseases of the former nations?” The Prophet said, “Excessive amusement, ingratitude, disunity, competition for worldly gain, hatred, and greed until there is transgression followed by upheaval.”

Medicine & Pharmaceutical Symbols: The symbols of paganism spread among the people

Medicine & Pharmaceutical Symbols:

The symbols of paganism spread among the people

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

The snake and snake venoms have stimulated the mind and imagination of humankind since the beginning of records about society. No animal has been more worshipped yet more cast out, more loved yet more despised than the snake. The essence of the fascination with fear of the snake lies within the creature’s venom. Snakes have been used for worship, magic potions and, medicine, and they have been the symbol of love, health, disease, medicine, pharmacy, immortality, death and even wisdom. In the Sumer civilization (B.C. 2350-2150), designs with 2 snakes appeared. In Greek mythology (B.C. 2000-400), statues of Asclepius (“god” of Medicine), with “Caduceus”, and his daughter Hygeia (“goddess” of Health), holding a snake and bowl, were created as symbols for medicine and health, respectively. A kind of Caduceus (1 snake and 1 staff) has been used as a symbol by the World Health Organization (WHO) and a snake and bowl as a symbol of pharmacies in Europe. Snakes have also been worshipped by the Hindus. In ancient Egypt, snake designs were used in hieroglyphs. In China, dried bodies of about 30 species of snakes are still using as Chinese medicines.

These symbols and its variants are largely found in the Pharmacies and medical places like hospitals and clinics:

1. The serpent of Epidaurus on the staff of Aesculapius (Asclepius):
Aesculapius was one of the Greek “gods” of medicine and is often depicted holding a staff with a snake coiled around it. The snake has represented wisdom, immortality and healing in a lot of cultures long before its association to ancient Greece.

2. The bowl of Hygeia with the serpent of Epidaurus:
This is a variation of the previous symbol. Hygeia was Aesculapius’s daughter and a “goddess” of health (“Hygiene”). Hygeia was often pictured holding a cup with a snake coiled about her body or arm.

3. The Caduceus
The two snakes on a staff has been adopted in the West as a symbol of medicine (not pharmacy) since the 19th century and has likely stemmed from the other two, older symbols. The staff is depicted with wings and is that of Mercury (Roman) or Hermes (Greek), the messenger of the “gods”.

﴿سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا﴾

{Glorified and High be He! From `Uluwwan  Kabeeraa (the great falsehood) that they say.} [Surah al-Israa (17): 43]

Rather, Allaah is al-Shaafee (Curer), who {…when I am ill, it is He who cures me} [Surah al-Shu`araa’ (26): 80]

Rather, “You (O Allaah!) are the Great Curer. There is no cure except through You. Cure (him/her), a cure that leaves no disease.” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]

Shaikh Muhammad `Alee Farkoos* حفظه الله said:

Fifth: The Muslim doctor, pharmacist, and other than them should remove and abstain from placing all (types of) medical symbols and stuff - which have the potential of corrupting the `Aqeedah or have links to the pagan philosophy – either on the (glass) walls, signboards, (prescription) papers, stamps, means of transports (ambulance). Included in this is also the “Red Cross” which is similar to the Christian symbol of the cross and it is from the worst form of Kufr and the detestable form of Shrik (associating partners with Allaah). Allaah تعالى said:

{Surely, disbelievers are those who said: “Allaah is the third of the three (in a Trinity).” But there is no ilaah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilaah (God -Allaah).} [Surah al-Maaidah (5): 73]

This also includes the symbol on the pharmacies of the snake coiled around a cup, because in the religion of the Greek and Romans, the snake represents the “god” of medicine which bestows health and wellbeing. Similarly, all the symbols which opposes Tawheed and Sincerity towards Allaah and corrupts the Muslim `Aqeedah (Creed) should be shunned.”

[Adapted from the book, “نصيحة إلى الطبيب المسلم” (Advice to the Muslim Doctor), pg.9:]

Also know that from that which causes deficiency in Tawheed is extreme reliance upon the means, such as the doctor, the medicine and other things, while not placing ultimate reliance upon Allaah. What is correct according to the Islaamic-legislation is that effort should be made to use the means, like seeking cures and sustenance, but the heart should be reliant upon Allaah and not the means.

Is there Jihad in Syria? Should one go and fight?

Is there Jihad in Syria?

Should one go and fight?

By Salafi Shaikh, Abdullaah al-Bukhaaree

image
Shaikh Abdullaah al-Bukhaaree (May Allaah preserve him) said:
The questioner here also asks regarding the fighting in Syria and its ruling.
The answer, may Allaah bless you, is that we say: As it relates to this important affair, the affair of Syria, and that which has afflicted its people from trials, then:
Firstly: That it it obligatory upon each Muslim, the Monotheist (al-Muwahhid) that he supplicates to Allaah for his brothers, the Muslims in every land of the World, and from them, the land of Syria in specific – that he calls upon Allaah, the Most High, whilst in prayer or whilst upon his travels, or during those times when the supplications are more likely to be accepted, that Allaah relieves them of that which has afflicted them from harm, and that He lifts from them that which has afflicted them from tribulations, and that he protects us and them from evils and trials – and that He has mercy upon their old, their young, their womenfolk and their youth. That we ask that Allaah aids the weak and downtrodden in every place. There is no doubt that which has afflicted them is a mighty affair – and that which they face from killing, annihilation, plundering and pillaging, then no doubt it is a mighty and tremendous matter. So we ask Allaah, the Mighty, The Lord of the Mighty Throne, from His Bounty and Kindness, from His Power and Might, that he lifts from them that which has afflicted them from trials and harm – and that He aids the supports the weak and downtrodden from Ahlus-Sunnah in every place, for indeed He is the Most Generous, the Most Kind. So that is the first point.
As for the second affair: When there occurred that which occurred in the land of Syria of revolt by some of the people in the beginning against that oppressive, tyrannical, transgressing ruler, and Allaah’s refuge is sought, and they stood against him and some of them took up arms against him, the people of truth of that land came asking, seeking the truth as to what they are to do. So the true Scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah answered without any flattery and without seeking any benefit for themselves as is sought by others who pursue and seek after tribulations (fitnah). So the Scholars issued fatawa in truth and in the light of the Prophetic narrations, that you should not do that (i.e. rise up against the ruler), and not raise weapons, and that you must stay away from tribulation and trials. And that is not due to the fact that the ruler is not a sinner, a criminal, and not due to any sanctity of Islaam for him, no! Rather from the conditions of Ahlus-Sunnah as it relates to revolt against the ruler who is an unbeliever and upon whom the ruling of disbelief has been confirmed with utter certainty and with proof from Allaah – so the Scholars have mentioned conditions – and that is even for the disbelieving ruler whose disbelief has exited him from the Religion, due to the fact that it is clear cut open disbelief – the disbelief which we see, which is open and apparent, for which we have a clear textual proof from Allaah. So this one who is revolted against, that the revolt against him must not lead to greater tribulation than what was already present before, greater destruction than what was there before. So if by removing this ruler, it leads to even greater harm and corruption, then it is not permitted to raise arms and weapons against such a ruler – and this is by the agreement or consensus (ijmaa’) of the scholars. So there must be ability present before he can be removed. So if there is not present the ability to remove him, then likewise he cannot be revolted against and removed. So this is what the Scholars gave as verdicts (fatawa) in this affair – that it is not permitted to rise up in arms against that ruler [of Syria]. As for the opportunists who have little regard for principles, the people of desires and and innovation (Ahlul-Bid’ah), those who profiteer behind the scenes when tribulations take place, and when blood is shed – these people say: “Look! They are defending such-and-such [a ruler]!” However, the Scholars of Sunnah do not defend this tyrannical sinner. Rather their intent is to protect the blood of the Muslims, the weak and downtrodden from the viewpoint and insight of the Sharee’ah, which is pure and purifies. So upon you is to look and see: When the affair became great and then increased further over these past three years, that this criminal day by day has only increased in his criminality. He has slaughtered men in their hundreds, in their thousands, and tens of thousands. He has done the same with children, and the worshippers, and the land itself, he has destroyed homes, yet he has still not left his seat of power.
So by seeking his removal, what has been achieved? The corruption that was there before of killing has now multiplied and multiplied. Rather, he has now called out and sought aid from the Raafidah, the worst filth of the people. So they came and they began to aid the ruler with falsehood upon falsehood – and we ask Allaah for security and well-being. And the Scholars of Sunnah are not harmed by those antagonists, the opposers of the truth, those who do business with the blood of people, just as they did business with the blood of the people in Iraq, and just as they did in other than Iraq from the lands of Allaah. They did not aid Islaam, nor did they break the enemy! They do not speak with the Sharee’ah of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam). They are the most ignorant of the people concerning the Religion of Allaah. They are greatest liars amongst the people concerning the Sharee’ah of Allaah.
So when there occurred that which occurred and matters became worse just as you see, killing and retribution and further killing, and then there entered into their ranks [of the rebels] people, and there came people from here and there. And the various banners [of rebellion] were raised, more than one banner, more than one group, more than one faction. Each one calling out and screaming, “each one claiming attachment to Laylah, but Laylah refuses to recognise any of them.” So their banner under which they fight is unknown, a banner that is not guided aright or sound, a banner that is dubious and suspect, a banner of innovation, and a banner of misguided innovators – and that is the reality. So for what will you fight, and under what banner will you fight. The Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) said, as has been reported in Saheeh Muslim and elsewhere:
“Whoever fights under a banner that is unknown or disguised and then dies, then he dies the death of the days of pre-Islamic ignorance.”
The Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) also said, as has been reported by Imaam al-Bukhaaree in his Saheeh:
“The Ruler is a shield, and the fighting takes place under his leadership”
So there must be Ruler, a banner that is true, sound, just, free from chaos and disorder and so on. Yes, a correct banner behind a legitimate ruler, as the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam) said: “The Ruler is a shield, and the fighting takes place under his leadership.” Meaning that he is a protection for them, so the Ruler is a necessary component – it cannot be the case that a few people gather together and say, “Ok, you, me and so-and-so, so we’ll appoint you as our Ruler.” This is playing games, and a fabrication against the Sharee’ah, it is a mockery of the Religion of Allaah.
There are many now who are trading and doing business in this crisis. The people of desires have caused great confusion in this affair by way of the internet and other social media. Fitnah (tribulation) is like fire, it requires wood and fuel. So who the fuel of for this tribulation? It is not possible that the fuel of this fitnah are only the youth of this Ummah who are trying to seek out the truth – however, they are not guided to those who will take them by their hand to show them what is correct. So these youth are traded by those who do business in blood – they hurl them into this tribulation making them fuel for the fire. They cause mischief with their minds saying to them, “There is nothing between you and Paradise except this [war in Syria], so you should do such-and-such an act [of violence].” It is made to seem that Paradise is in front of them, and the gate to Paradise is with them (i.e. the callers to fighting in Syria) and that they have the keys to it!
“Their deeds and words are being written down and they shall surely be questioned.”
So this crisis, may Allaah bless you, as we have stated, many are trading in it, causing confusion and chaos amongst the people, making mischief whilst continually reviling what the the Scholars of the Sunnah are upon – they are pleased with atrocities taking place. Some of them declare other Muslims to be unbelievers, and they accuse others to be heretics, and they make permissible the spilling of the blood of many people.
My brothers, happiness is for the one who accepts admonition from another. There are those who returned from that land (of Syria) who narrate the mentioned the conditions there – people who are trading with the lives of the youth. They ask them, “From which direction did you enter the land? For this direction or that direction?” This is just the same as what occurred in Iraq – when some of the youth went to Iraq in the name of “Jihad” and “fighting”, they would buy and sell them, either for the wicked Raafidhah or other enemies of the Religion. So they fell prey to these traders [in human blood]. And they would do this to others coming from various lands.
So I ask this banner, therefore, that is being raised high by these various warring factions, do you not see them fighting, slaughtering and killing each other? They are killing each other! All in the name of “Jihad”! They give a bad image to this this noble term, this act of worship, this clean and pure term. It is disfigured by the deeds of many – those who are ignorant of the Religion of Allaah. And it is possible that some of them even know they are upon falsehood, but they make judgements based upon their own desires, whilst others are ignorant, and refuge is sought with Allaah – or it may be a combination of both of these ills.
So the tribulations took place and they increased and multiplied and spread to many lands, and maybe even to this land. So for this reason a group of the Scholars issued verdicts (Fatawa), the Scholars of the Sunnah, the Scholars of the Truth [whose concern is the Truth], such as the ‘Allaamah ash-Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan and other than him from the Scholars of Sunnah such as Shaikh ‘Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbaad, Shaikh ‘Ubaid a-Jaabiree, and others. All of them said that this fighting is considered as fighting of tribulation (fitnah). So it is obligatory to stay away from it. And Allaah, the Majestic and Most High, is supplicated to, that he removes this affliction and harm.
As for these others [who call to fitnah], then they gather the wealth of the people, they consume and eat and drink – and they have made a business for themselves from this fitnah. So we have millions of people who have been displaced and are living under tents dying from hunger and illness and so on, even children, infants, women, men, the incapacitated – and how many women stay in those camps without any male relatives (mahram) with them, nor family members? So what is the cause of this, may Allaah bless you?
So this is what we believe and take as our Religion before Allaah, and that it is not permitted to travel to that land [of Syria]. Rather, instead, Allaah is beseeched in supplication that He remove the afflictions and harms that have befallen them. And if you are to do something to aid them, then give in charity to official governmental bodies, not to people who collect money in streets and at the doors of mosques, do not give them your wealth at all. Charity for the refugees, the poor, the impoverished and those who have been afflicted from those who live in these refugee camps must be given to the official governmental bodies if you wish to aid and help those afflicted. So there are official trusted governmental bodies run by the government. So if you wish to give, then give to them. Do not give your wealth to any old person, here and there, ever. They will take your wealth for use in personal trade and to harm the people of Islaam and some declare the people of Islaam to be unbelievers.
End.

The Dangers of Free Mixing

The Dangers of Free Mixing

Shaykhul Islaam Ibnul Qayyim
 At-Turuq al-Hikmiyyah p.281

There is no doubt that allowing women into intermingle with men is the basis of calamity and vice. And it is from the greatest causes of the befalling of general punishments. Just as it is the cause of the corruption of both general and specific affairs.

The intermingling of men with women also leads to sin and adultery, and is amongst the causes of demise in general and sexually transmitted diseases[1]. When prostitutes intermingled with Moosa’s soldiers and fornication spread amongst them,  Allaah sent down the plague upon them. Seventy-thousand of them died in a single day! The story is well known in the books of Tafseer.

So from the greatest of causes of general demise is the abundance of fornication due to endorsing the intermingling of women with men, and mixing with them whilst beautifying themselves and displaying their adornment. If the rulers knew of the corruption of worldly affairs and the public in this – before the religion – they would have been the severest ones in forbidding intermingling.

Disobedience: a cause for the destruction of the Ummah

Disobedience: a cause for the destruction of the Ummah

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله ، وبعد

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saaleh al-`Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:

“Do you see any destruction more severe than the destruction of the Ummah nowadays? They are Billion in numbers, they are nearly one-fourth of the world population, but they have no value in the global community in spite of having moral force, material power and manpower. But when they neglected the Deen of Allaah, Allaah عز وجل forsook them, so that a person trusts* the oppressors among the Kuffar more than he trusts* his own brothers among the Muslims – and this is an ordeal and a calamity.”

SHAIKH UBAID AL-JAABIREE: SUPPLICATION FOR THE MUSLIMS OF SYRIA

SHAIKH UBAID AL-JAABIREE:
SUPPLICATION FOR
THE MUSLIMS OF SYRIA

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Question Number 19:

From Libya, the questioner asks:

‘’It is not hidden (regarding) what is happening in Syria and to its people, and to the Muslims (with regards) to killing, violation of honour, destruction of houses and mosques by the administration of Bash’shaar Asad [The Nusayree, the Raafidi (Shi’ee)]; so do we (perform) the Qunoot and supplicate for them in the obligatory prayers knowing that the one in charge of the religious affairs has allowed the Imaams of the mosques to (perform) Qunoot?”

Answer:

My dear son, you asked and accomplished (the affair). The affair has been accomplished; the ministry of religious affairs has given permission and it has acted on behalf of the ruler by (allowing) the Qunoot on behalf of your believing brothers—those who are weak and oppressed in Syria—so (perform) Qunoot. The one amongst you who wants to make Qunoot in his house, (then) even if the ruler did not allow the Qunoot; he is (still allowed to perform the Qunoot in his house). But I advise you:

Firstly:

Specify the believers (in your supplication) and not for the whole nation, because there is one in the nation who is a ba’thee (socialist/communist), and amongst them is one whose orientation is towards democracy, secularism; so specify the believers (in your supplication).

Secondly:

Adopt a middle course in your supplication; do not prolong it, make it short.  That which some of the Imaams of the mosques do in the beginning of the Witr Qunoot, perhaps saying: ‘’O Allaah give us rain’’ and (then sometimes) supplicates for the Muslims in general. This is not transmitted from the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).  And what is transmitted in the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) in Bukhaari, Muslim and its like, is to specify those who are weak and oppressed amongst the believers, men and women.

Declaring to be a disbeliever...

Question 6: In relation to some of the Muslim countries; that allows many bars, evil actions, and fornication. Is that be counted as one the open acts of disbelief, which, it is permissible to revolt against them?

Answer: There is a difference between the one, who believes, what Allah has made Haraam is lawful and between the one, who does what Allah made unlawful while not deeming it permissible.

Like the one, who drinks intoxicants while he believes that it is not permissible or the one who consumes Riba while he believes that it is not permissible. This person is not the one, who committed an act of disbelief that take him out of Islam. He is a Faasiq (i.e. Open sinner) who is deficient in Eemaan. If a legal punishment is due to him, then the punishment is due to him for stealing, or for drinking; however, he is not declared a heretic, because he did not deem this matter to be permissible.

As for the one, who deemed permissible these things; then indeed, he is a disbeliever. Because whoever deemed something to be permissible while its impermissibility is agreed upon them, indeed He is a disbeliever, even if he did not do it so what is the case if he did.

The Evils Which Will Befall The Muslim Ummah During The Last Days

The Evils Which Will Befall The Muslim Ummah During The Last Days

'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar said,
"The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) came to us and said, 'O Muhajirun, (emigrants from Makkah to al-Madinah) you may be afflicted by five things; God forbid that you should live to see them. If fornication should become widespread, you should realise that this has never happened without new diseases befalling the people which their forebears never suffered. If people should begin to cheat in weighing out goods, you should realise that this has never happened without drought and famine befalling the people, and their rulers oppressing them. If people should withhold Zakat, you should realise that this has never happened without the rain being stopped from falling; and were it not for the animals' sake, it would never rain again. If people should break their covenant with Allah and His Messenger, you should realise that his has never happened without Allah sending an enemy against them to take some of their possessions by force. If the leaders do not govern according to the Book of Allah, you should realise that this has never happened without Allah making them into groups and making them fight one another." [1].
'Ali ibn Abi Talib said,
"The Prophet said: 'If my Ummah bears fifteen traits, tribulation will befall it.' Someone asked, 'What are they, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'When any gain is shared out only among the rich, with no benefit to the poor; when a trust becomes a means of making a profit; when paying Zakat becomes a burden; when a man obeys his wife and disobeys his mother; and treats his friend kindly whilst shunning his father; when voices are raised in the mosques; when the leader of a people is the worst of them; when people treat a man with respect because they fear some evil he may do; when much wine is drunk; when men wear silk; when female singers and musical instruments become popular; when the last ones of this Ummah curse the first ones - then let them expect a red wind, or the earth to swallow them, or to be transformed into animals.'" [2].
'Ali ibn Abi Talib said,
"The Prophet led us in praying Salat al-Fajr (the morning prayer). When he had finished, a man called to him: 'When will the Hour be?’ The Prophet reprimanded him and said 'Be quiet!' After a while he raised his eyes to the sky and said, 'Glorified be the One Who raised it and is taking care of it.' Then he lowered his gaze to the earth and said, 'Glory be to the One Who has outspread it and has created it.' Then the Prophet said, 'Where is the one who asked me about the Hour?' The man knelt down and said, 'I asked you.' The Prophet said, 'The Hour will come when leaders are oppressors, when people believe in the stars and reject al-Qadar (the Divine Decree of destiny) when a trust becomes a way of making a profit, when people give to charity (Sadaqah) reluctantly, when adultery becomes widespread - when this happens, then your people will perish.'"[3].
'Imran ibn Husayn said,
"The Prophet (saws) said, 'Some people of this Ummah will be swallowed up by the earth, some will be transformed into animals, and some will be bombarded with stones.' One of the Muslims asked, 'When will that be, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'When singers and musical instruments will become popular, and much wine will be drunk.'" [4].

Terrorism in Occident

Terrorism in Occident

Question: The question is regarding what recently took place of explosions in London, and which has been allegedly attributed to those who claim to be Muslims. However, we have learnt from our Scholars that Islaam is free from, and has nothing to do with such actions. Would you please clarify this?

Answer: What occurred in London of the actions of some of those who claim to be Muslim or adherents to Islaam, is actually something which gives a bad and evil picture of this Deen (Religion). These people are painting a bad and corrupted picture of Islaam to those in the West. We know that in the West there are philosophers and those amongst the Jews who know and recognize that the hearts of the population in the West are turning to Islaam and this is something they are not pleased with. They therefore point out these events in order to increase the enmity between the common people and Islaam.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم warned against these types of actions. Once he saw that a lady was killed in a battle, and he even warned against that. One should not do this to the women, the children or the old people; these innocent individuals should not be harmed. Islaam warns against these things and we already mentioned that Islaam spread because of the good characteristics that people saw in the Muslims. Once when Mu'aawiyyah had a pledge with a State and the pledge was about to be broken he wanted to attack them but some of those around him said: "You have to honor your pledge and your trust."

A Muslim is not one who breaks his trust regarding Muslims or non-Muslims. These types of actions actually turn and twist the picture of Islaam in an adverse way. Islaam and the Muslims are all free of these types of acts. It is something that no Muslim agrees with. What will now happen to the Muslims because of this? The people who did this don't care. They don't show mercy to the Muslims nor do they show mercy to those who are not Muslims. They don't show mercy to the Muslims or the non-Muslims. We ask Allaah for sincerity and to allow us to honour this Deen, and not to disfigure it in the face of those who do not truly know about it."

Question: Is there unanimity or disagreement about it being forbidden to condemn the Muslim ruler publicly if there were to exist an advantage in condemning him?
Shaykh al-Fawzân: It is not whether there is disagreement on the issue. The point lies in who is right. We follow the one who is right since the messenger (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) commands us to hear and obey the Muslim rulers, even if they are unjust. It is about adopting the smallest evil. Likewise, rebellion against the rulers leads to a greater disadvantage than the patience with their injustice. This is as long as they are Muslims.
If something leads to a greater disadvantage, then it is not allowed. It is not allowed to adopt something that leads to a greater disadvantage and an adverse effect. It is not allowed:

Question: Is not your verdict about it being obligatory to advise the ruler in seclusion contradicting the words of the prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam):
“The greatest Jihâd is to speak a word of truth before an unjust ruler.”?
Shaykh al-Fawzân: All praise is due to Allâh. He said:
“…before an unjust ruler.”
Thus, this is in seclusion and before him. It does not occur outside of his place and sitting. You came with something that is evidence a

The Mufti of Saudi Arabia about al-’Arifi’s view of the injustice of the leader

The Mufti of Saudi Arabia
about al-’Arifi’s view of the
injustice of the leader

What was said by al-’Arifi:
Host: How do we combine between the command of the prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) to hear and obey the leader even if he flogs your back and takes your property1 and what the people are doing today?
al-’Arifi: “There is of course a difference if the ruler attacks one individual. Muslim reports that the prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Hear and obey even if he flogs your back and takes your property.”
This is regarding if the ruler attacks one individual that he has a problem with. Otherwise the ruler is good. But in this case he comes to one person and flogs his back and takes his property. It should be said to this person not to rise up and incite towards rebellion or rebel with armor against him. For the disadvantage of this deed is greater than him having flogged you. Look whether you can take your money from him in a different way. What we are speaking of is if the ruler takes money from the entire population.
1: “…You should hear and obey the ruler, even if he flogs your back and takes your wealth, then still hear and obey.”” [Reported by Muslim (Eng. trans. 3/1029/no.4554).]
The Mufti of Saudi Arabia:
Question: Does the Hadîth of the prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam):
“Hear and obey even if he flogs your back and takes your property.”
only apply to individual cases and that it does not apply to the general injustice or does it cover all injustice?
‘Abdul-’Azîz Âl ash-Shaykh: It is general. It is obligatory to obey the ruler even if he is sinful. It is obligatory to obey. Through the obedience, the matters and conditions are managed correctly, even if there were to exist errors. However, this error should be looked at in proportion to the all-encompassing prosperity.
As for rebellion and disobedience against the rulers, then only Allâh knows what tribulation and mess it all leads to. Draw lessons from some Islâmic countries that suffer from revolts and which they call as “The Arab spring”. Just look at the tribulations that have resulted from them!
O brothers! To hear and obey the ruler is a way to reach a stable, secure, safe and good life. Disobedience and discord for the best of the individuals is extremely harmful. We have to hear and obey and believe that we are obliged to hear and obey, strengthen, stand by their side and defend the rulers we have pledged allegiance to in accordance with the Qur’ân and Sunnah and not wish them and our country evil.

Shaykh al-Fawzân’s statement regarding this explanation of the Hadîth:
Question: What do you say about the one who says that the Hadîth [regarding that one should] hear and obey if one were to be flogged only applies to the just ruler who attacks one individual….
Shaykh al-Fawzân: That is his own understanding. I have heard him myself. It is his own understanding. He should not explain the speech of the messenger (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in that way. This person follows his desire and wants to interpret the words of the messenger in accordance with his desire and lust. It is not allowed. He puts words into the messenger’s (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) mouth. It is very dangerous.

Ibn ‘Uthaymîn shuts the door to misused Takfîr upon the rulers

Question: What is the ruling on the ruler who rules by something other than that which Allâh has revealed while he at the same time considers it to be obligatory to rule by that which Allâh has revealed?
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymîn: It is not an easy matter. It is not possible to give a general ruling. If one were to give a general ruling, then some people will misunderstand it. If the ruler does something, which according to this person opposes the book of Allâh, then he will say that he (the ruler) is a disbeliever. This is exactly what some of the groups of today do when they make Takfîr [exclude someone from the religion] upon the rulers because they say that they have not ruled by that which Allâh has revealed. However, they have not studied the matter.
That is why I deem it better to shut the door to this issue. It is better to shut the door to this issue so that people don’t misunderstand the scholar who issues the Fatwâ and take advantage of it in order to revolt against the rulers of their countries. As you yourself know, this matter is a great matter.
The scholars (rahimahullâh) have spoken about this matter in relation to the relevant verses in chapter al-Mâ’idah. You can always refer to the words of the scholars in this matter.
