Are you allowed to say (Pope Johannes Paulus) that he will go to the hellfire, given that he died as a non-muslim?

Question: The leader of misguidance the Pope Johannes Paulus has died. Are you allowed to say that he will go to the hellfire, given that he died as a non-muslim?
Answer: What do you know regarding whether he died as a non-muslim or not? You can not confirm this. You can not be sure that he died as a non-muslim. You can not confirm the paradise or hellfire for someone who the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم   has not confirmed it for. You can not confirm that he died as a non-muslim. Allah knows best. Therefore, you can not confirm that he was going to hell. This is along the principle that you can not confirm anything about an individual. In general, the non-muslims, Christians and Jews end up in hell. But when it comes to individuals, you do not know in what condition they are dying in. You must hope for the best for the pious and fear the worst for the sinner. The fact that you say that Johannes [Paulus] will go to the hellfire is wrong. It is possible that he will go to the hellfire. Allah knows best. You can also say that he will go to the hellfire if he died as a non-muslim and that he ends up in paradise if he repented. But, you should not confirm anything without proof.
