Question: This questioner says: some of the youth have cellphones and they fill it with oppositions and evils like songs, musical instruments, and prohibited pictures. So what is your guidance for the likes of these people? May Allah bless you

Answer: “If these people are older, then it is upon them to fear Allah and repent to Allah from this action. And that they purify their cellphones from these affairs, from these evil ideas, and this amusement and game. If they are young, then it is upon their guardians to protect them from it. [For the guardians to] prevent them from this harmful amusement and from this action which will harm them in the future”

السؤال: 

هذا يقول: بعض الشباب لديهم ظاهرة في الجوالات، أنهم يملئونها ببعض المخالفات، والمنكرات كالغناء والمعازف والصور المحرَّمة، فما هو توجيهكم لمثل هؤلاء-بارك الله فيكم-؟

الجواب: هؤلاء إن كانوا كبارًا فعليهم أن يتقوا الله، وأن يتوبوا إلى الله من هذا العمل، وأن يُطهروا جوالاتهم عن هذه الأمور، وهذه الأفكار السيئة، وهذا اللهو واللعب، وإن كانوا صغارًا، فعلى أوليائهم أن يصونوهم منها، وأن يمنعوهم من هذا العبث الضار، ومن هذا العمل الذي يكون ضرره عليهم مستقبلاً.

Question: There are some matrimonial Internet websites. These sites assist those looking for marriage. What is the ruling on women who are searching for marriage using these sites and what is the legislative manner of searching for marriage and the woman presenting herself for marriage?

Answer: May Allāh bless you, this way is traversed upon by most of the people of falsehood, and they use them to prey upon women and commit corruption thereafter. I do not advise the Salafī man nor the Salafī woman to utilize this means. She is to simply make it known amongst her sisters and brothers that she is looking for a righteous husband; likewise, the man is to make it known amongst  his brothers and sisters that she is looking for a righteous wife, and supplicate to Allāh, the Exalted, for Tawfīq. And Allāh's Aid is sought.

Shaykh Saalih al Fawzaan on the ruling on having conversations with women on the internet.

Shaykh Saalih al Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, was asked what is the ruling on having conversations with young women by email and what is the ruling of it, if it is beneficial for example speaking to an woman poet (to benefit from her poetry)?

A:The origin is that is not permissible if it is occurring from non mahram men for them (the women) due to what it contains of fitnah and harm, even if she is a poet because preventing harm has precedence over bring out good. Majority of the times the ending of (these cases) are awful due to the youth having conversations with young women (by email) …

سئل الشيخ صالح بن فوزان بن عبد الله الفوزان ـ حفظه الله تعالى ـ :

ما حكم مراسلة الفتيات بالبريد ؟ و ما حكمها إذا كانت مفيدة ؛ مثل مراسلة أدبية أو شاعرة ؟

فأجاب :

مراسلة الفتيات ؛ الأصل فيها أنها لا تجوز إذا كانت من رجال غير محارم لهن ؛ لما يترتَّب عليهَا من الفتنَّة و المَحاذير ، و لو كانت الفتاة أديبة أو شَاعرة ؛ لأن درء المفاسِد مقدَّمٌ على جلب المَصَالِح ، وأغلَب ما تحصل النَّتَائِج الوَخِيمَة بسبب المراسلَة بين الشاب والشابات والتَّعارف المَشبُوه .
