Question: Our people in Palestine are today in an ongoing battle with the jews. Is it allowed according to the Sharî’ah to kill a jew if one of us were to catch one?
Shaykh al-Albânî: If what is allowed?
Questioner: To kill him.
Shaykh al-Albânî: If it is allowed to kill a jew? Where? here or there?
Questioner: There.
al-Albânî: Dear brother! Do you not see that several Muslims die if one jew gets killed? Do you not see this? Who has the most victims? The Muslims or the jews?
Questioner: The Muslims, but one has to act in this way in order to throw fear into their hearts.
al-Albânî: No, one doesn’t have to do it like that at all.
Questioner: For how long will this continue?
al-Albânî: One doesn’t have to do it like that. Imagine if it continues in this way, what will be the results? The Muslims look while the Palestinians are getting slaughtered. How will the results be? If one jew gets killed, ten Palestinians get killed and thousands get imprisoned. What will be the results? Is this the way the jews are defeated? This is not the way it is done.
The fact of the matter is that the Muslims of today have taken the wrong way to Jihâd. Jihâd is initiated with the struggle against one’s own soul. The prophet (sallâ Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“A Mujâhid is he who struggles against his soul for the sake of Allâh.”
I am not mentioning the famous Hadîth:
“We have returned from a lesser Jihâd to a greater Jihâd.”
This Hadîth is weak and it is replaced by the authentic Hadîth:
“A Mujâhid is he who struggles against his soul for the sake of Allâh.”
