A benefit from the explanation of hadeeth “the dunyaa is the prison of believer”-Ibn Qayyem rahimahul-llaah

Jannah

Imaam Ibn Qayyem Al-Jawziyyah rahimahul-llaah said in Badaa’i’ul-Fawaa’id, vol 3:

There are two sound explanation of “the dunyaa is the prison of believer”:

1-The belief of believer restrains him from the prohibited, while the disbeliever acts loosely.

2-Considering the consequences, if the believer is the most luxurious in dunyaa, it will be his prison compared to his abode in Paradise. And the disbeliever is his opposite, if he is the most miserable in dunyaa, it will be his paradise compared to his abode in hellfire.

And in the footnote of this benefit:

A Jewish slave asked a prestigious Muslim scholar about this hadeeth looking at their conditions, and the scholar replied on spot: “when you meet the torment of Allaah tomorrow, this [dunyaa] would be your paradise. And when I meet the luxury of Allaah tomorrow, this [dunyaa] would be my prison”. At-Tabaqaat As-Saniyyah by At-Tameemee 4/60.

EMBRACING ISLAM WHILE HAVING A NON-MUSLIM HUSBAND

EMBRACING ISLAM WHILE HAVING A NON-MUSLIM HUSBAND
Marry
We face a problem in Islamic centers while calling non-Muslim women to Islam. It is the attachment of these women who want to embrace Islam to their husbands while their husbands do not. It is difficult for them to sacrifice their marriages especially if they have children and their husbands are well mannered, and so their love for their husbands takes precedence. We know that if a woman accepts Islam it is not permissible for her to stay under the guardianship of a non-Muslim man due to the saying of Allah ‘Azza wa Jal: {They are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers nor are the disbelievers lawful (husbands) for them.} [Al Mumtahinah: 10] So how do we deal with this problem? Is it permissible for us to concentrate on converting them to Islam and leaving off the rest of the issue?
All praise is due to Allah, we asked the noble Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih ibn ‘Uthaymeen this question:
A woman is asking: I would like to embrace Islam but I have a good husband and I do not want to get separated from him, so what should I do?
Answer: She must get separated from him. However is it possible for her to call him to Islam saying: “I want to become Muslim but our marriage contract will be nullified unless you embrace Islam.” If she mentions this to him he may agree to become Muslim.
Question: If she accepts Islam, should she give him Da’wah at home or is she to leave the house?
Answer: If she hopes that he will embrace Islam, then she should stay in his house until her ‘Iddah period expires.
Question: Is she to veil herself from him during the ‘Iddah period or not?
Answer: It is safer that she does not expose herself to him because it is not guaranteed that he will accept Islam.
Question: How about being alone with him?
Answer: She should not even be alone with him.
Question: If telling her this would turn her away from Islam, is it permissible for us to keep the second portion of this answer hidden and say to her: “Embrace Islam first and then we will tell you about the ruling of staying with your husband later.”
Answer: No, and if you did this she may become an apostate, then the problem would be even greater. This is why the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said to ‘Ali when he sent him to khaybar:
“Call them to Islam and inform them of what is obligated upon them from the rights of Allah in regards to it.”
Question: So this woman, if she stays with her husband after she converts to Islam, she is considered to be performing of a Major sin, correct?
Answer: Yes, but is it permissible to keep practicing fornication?
Question: In summary what should we say to her?
Answer: We say: “Accept Islam and know that if you become Muslim and your Husband does not then your marriage contract is nullified.” Finished.
When speaking to women that go through this issue, you should concentrate on the following points while explaining them fully:
> Giving precedence to the love of Allah and His Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) over everyone else;
> If she is sincere in calling her husband to Islam and in performing Du’a for him, Allah may guide him through her;
> Whoever leaves something for the pleasure of Allah, Allah will replace it with something better than it;
> Allah will not foresake a slave of His that has sacrificed something that they love for His pleasure;
> Also you should strive to solve the likes of these problems. If a woman embraces Islam and gets separated from her husband, then a brother should step forward and present himself in order to marry her and unite her with her children or find someone from amongst the wealthy Muslims to provide for her and her children.
We ask Allah for guidance, success and pertinence, and may the prayers be upon our Prophet Muhammad.

Friday is called Al-Jumu`ah

Friday is called Al-Jumu`ah because it is derived from Al-Jam`, literally, gathering. The people of Islam gather weekly, on every Friday in the major places of worship. It was during Friday when Allah finished the creation, the sixth day, during which Allah created the heavens and earth. During Friday, Allah created Adam, and he was placed in Paradise, and ironically, it was a Friday when he was taken out of Paradise. It will be on a Friday when the Last Hour will commence. There is an hour during Friday, wherein no faithful servant asks Allah for something good, but Allah will give him what he asked for. All of this is based upon Hadiths in the authentic collections. In the ancient language Friday was called, `Arubah. It is a fact that previous nations were informed about Friday, but they were led astray from it. The Jews chose Saturday for their holy day, but Adam was not created on Saturday. The Christians chose Sunday, which is the day the creation was initiated. Allah chose Friday for this Ummah, because it is the day the creation was finished .Al-Bukhãri and Muslim recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said,

(We are the last (to come) but the first on the Day of Resurrection, though the former nations were given the Scriptures before us. And this was their day (Friday) the celebration of which was made compulsory for them, but they differed about it. So, Allah gave us guidance to it, and all other people are coming after us: the Jews tomorrow and the Christians the day after tomorrow.''

This is the wording of Al-Bukhãri in another narration of Muslim;

(Allah diverted those who were before us from Friday. For the Jews there was Saturday, and for the Christians there was Sunday. Allah then brought us and guided us to Friday. He made them; Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and it is in this order they will come after us on the Day of Resurrection. We are the last of among the people of this world and the first among the created to be judged on the Day of Resurrection.)

Ghusl for Jumu’ah...

Doing ghusl for Jumu’ah is prescribed as Sunnah when getting ready to go to the prayer

better life | via Tumblr

Does the obligatory ghusl done before Fajr exempt one from also having to do ghusl for Jumu’ah, or not?

The Sunnah is to do ghusl on Friday when getting ready to go to Jumu’ah, and it is preferable to do that when one is about to head for the mosque, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When any one of you goes to Jumu’ah, let him do ghusl.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, al-Jumu’ah, 882 – this version was narrated by him; Muslim, al-Jumu’ah, 845).

If one does ghusl at the beginning of the day, that is sufficient, because ghusl on Fridays is a confirmed Sunnah (Sunnah mu’akkadah), and some scholars said that it is obligatory. So this ghusl should be done regularly on Fridays, preferably when one is about to set out for the mosque, as stated above, because this is more clean, and more likely to put a stop to offensive odours. One should also take care to apply perfume and wear nice clothes. When setting out for the mosque one should take care to be solemn in one’s demeanour, and to make his stride short, because each step wipes out a bad deed and Allaah raises a person one degree thereby. So he should proceed in a solemn and careful manner. When he reaches the mosque, he should enter with his right foot first, send blessings and peace upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and mention the name of Allaah, and say, “A’oodhu Billaah il-‘Azeem wa bi wajhih il-kareem wa sultaanih il-qadeem min al-shaytaan il-rajeem; Allaahumma iftah li abwaab rahmatika (Is seek refuge with Allaah the Almighty and in His noble Face and His eternal Dominion, from the accursed Shaytaan; O Allaah, open to me the gates of Your mercy).” Then he should pray as much as Allaah wills he should pray. He should not push between two people. After that he should sit and wait, either reading Qur’aan, or reciting dhikr and prayers for forgiveness, or in silence, until the imaam comes. He should listen attentively when the imaam gives the khutbah, then he should pray with him. If he does that then he will have attained a great deal of good. It says in a saheeh hadeeth that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever does ghusl, then comes to Jumu’ah and prays whatever Allaah wills that he should pray, then listens attentively to the khateeb until he finishes the khutbah, then prays with him, will be forgiven his sins between that and the other Friday plus three days.” (Narrated by Muslim, al-Jumu’ah, 1418). That is because a good deed earns a tenfold reward.

Ghusl for Jumu’ah begins...

Ghusl for Jumu’ah begins...

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Ghusl for Jumu’ah begins at the break of dawn, but it is better not to do ghusl until after the sun has risen, because the day has certainly begun after sunrise, and because the time before sunrise is the time for Fajr prayer, and the time for Fajr prayer has not ended yet, so it is better not to do ghusl until after the sun has risen. Then it is better not to do ghusl until the time for going to Jumu’ah, so that he will be going to Jumu’ah immediately after purifying himself. End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 16/142

Friday ghusl is not obligatory upon a woman

Friday ghusl is not obligatory upon a woman

Q: “Is the Friday bath (ghusl) obligatory upon a woman?”

Shaikh al-Albaani:

“If the Friday prayer fundamentally is not obligatory upon her, then how can the subsidiary issue (the bath) be obligatory when the fundamental (the prayer) isn’t?”[1]

[1] Shaikh Bin Baaz, Shaikh Ibn al-`Uthaimeen and Shaikh Fawzaan likewise said that the Friday bath is specifically for men – those who must attend the Friday prayer – not women.

HUSBANDS: BEAUTIFY YOURSELVES FOR YOUR WIVES AND HELP IN THE HOME

HUSBANDS: BEAUTIFY YOURSELVES FOR YOUR WIVES AND HELP IN THE HOME

moments. | via Tumblr

Allah says:
And the women have the same rights as those that are over them from what is reasonable.
[Sooratul-Baqarah 2: 228]
Al-Haafidh Ibn Katheer in his explanation of this verse said:
“It means that they have rights over the men similar to the rights that the men have over them. So giving each other their mutual rights is obligatory from what is reasonable…
Wakee’ said on the authority Basheer ibn Sulaymaan, on the authority of ‘Ikramah, on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbaas who said:
Verily I love to beautify myself for my wife  just as I love my wife to beautify themselves for me because Allah says:
And the women have the same rights as those that are over them from what is reasonable.
[Sooratul-Baqarah 2: 228]
If a man beautifies himself, it helps the woman in lowering her gaze and it helps to bring the hearts close together.
Some men go to their wives and they are unkempt, dirty, and foul smelling. He bathes and perfumes himself to go out with his friends, but when he returns he is as I mentioned earlier which causes dislike in the heart and disgust in the soul.
Just as you ask your wife, when she is in front of you, to be beautiful looking and pleasant smelling, she also asks this of you. She has feelings just as you do, and she has senses just as you do. Men, fear Allah in yourselves and in your women.”
Helping her with housework
‘Aa’ishah (radiallaahu anha) was asked, “What does the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) do with his family?” She said: “He was busy with his family until it was time to pray and then he prayed.” [Saheeh al-Bukhari]
On the authority of al-Qaasim, on the authority of ‘Aa’ishah (radiallaahu ‘anhaa) that he asked, “What did he Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) do in his house?” She said: “He was a man among men, he cleaned his garment, he milked his sheep and he served himself.” [Ahmad with an authentic chain]
On the authority of ‘Urwah ibn az-Zubayr, on the authority of ‘Aa’ishah (radiallaahu ‘anhaa) that he asked, “What did the Messenger of Allah  (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) do in his house?” She said: “He mended his garment, patched his shoes and he did in his house what men do in their houses.” [Ahmad with an authentic chain]
The female student of Islamic knowledge especially needs her husband’s help in raising the children and caring for them, in order for her to study from the Qur’an and Sunnah what is needed for her to practice her religion and assist her in bringing up her children in a proper and sound way. We ask Allah to guide our men.

WHICH IS BETTER FOR A MUSLIM WOMAN, SEEKING KNOWLEDGE OR TAKING CARE OF THE HOUSE?

WHICH IS BETTER FOR A MUSLIM WOMAN, SEEKING KNOWLEDGE OR TAKING CARE OF THE HOUSE?

Untitled

Question: Which is better for a Muslim woman, taking care of her house and husband, or devoting her time to seeking knowledge, and bringing a servant to take care of the house?
Answer: Yes, it is obligatory for a Muslim woman to strive to understand her religion as much as possible, but serving her husband, obeying her husband and raising her children are also important obligations. She should make time to learn every day, even if it is only a little. Or she should put aside some time for reading and then the rest of her time will be for her daily work. In this way she will not be neglecting learning and she will not be neglecting her work and children and leaving them to a servant to look after. Seeking balance in this matter, by setting aside time for learning, even if it is a little, and time for her housework, will be sufficient for her.

1) Imitating them in dress and lingo

2) Residing in their lands and not moving from their lands to the lands of the Muslims to save one’s Deen (i.e, hijrah).

3) Travelling to the lands of the kuffaar for tourism and vacation.

5) Seeking their aid, trusting them, putting them in positions to know the secrets of the Muslims and making them advisors.

6) Using their calendar instead of the Islaamic calendar and, more importantly, observing the holidays on their calendar, like Christmas etc.

7) Observing their holidays or helping them to make that celebration or congratulating them for their holidays or just being present at their celebrations.

8) Speaking well of them through what they have of material wealth and being satisfied with their behaviour without looking at their deen which is a false deen.

Does the punishment of the grave include the disobedient mu’min or is it specific for the kaafir?

Does the punishment of the grave include the disobedient mu’min or is it specific for the kaafir?

Author: Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen
Source: Majmoo' Fataawa wa Rasa'il - Volume Two, Number 154

Question: Does the punishment of the grave include the disobedient mu’min or is it specific for the kaafir?
Answer: The ceaseless punishment of the grave is for the munaafiq (hypocrite) and for the kaafir (disbeliever).
As for the disobedient mu’min (believer) then he may be punished in the grave because it is established in the Saheehain (the two Saheehs) from the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Abbaas (رضى الله عنهما) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) while passing by two graves said: “They (their occupants) are being tormented, but they are not tormented for a grievous sin. One of them did not keep himself safe from being defiled by urine and the other carried tales (nameemah).” [1]
And it is well known that they (the occupants of the graves) were Muslims.

[1] Reported in Saheeh Bukhaari and Muslim. Narrated Ibn ‘Abbaas: The Prophet once passed by two graves and said, “These two persons are being tortured not for a major sin (to avoid). One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other used to go about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends).” The Prophet then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree, split it into (pieces) and fixed one on each grave. They said, “O Allaah’s Apostle! Why have you done so?” He replied, “I hope that their punishment might be lessened till these (the pieces of the leaf) become dry.”

Useful advice to students of knowledge concerning their wives and families.

2412 | via Tumblr

The truth my brothers, is that whoever has been provided with a woman, who is a student of knowledge, then indeed he has been provided with much goodness. So it’s binding upon him to honour her and to thank Allah for this blessing. I remind myself and my brothers, on this occasion, that it is binding upon us to fear Allah with our women.

A lot of Muslims (men) have good character, good actions and everybody loves being close to him except his family because when he enters the house he changes. In front of other people he is from the best and gentlest of people. Smiling much and soft in speech. But when he enters his house he changes and becomes angry, he gets angry for the smallest of things, he swears about the smallest of things, he fights about the smallest of things.

We must fear Allah in the apparent and hidden. Our condition shouldn’t change: in front of people and likewise when we are in our houses, our condition is one. We are observant of Allah. We must honour the women of house: our wives, sisters, daughters, and mothers also. Treat them how they ought to be treated. As I said, if the wife is a student of knowledge, this is a great blessing. She supports you in obeying Allah and supports you in goodness. So be thankful to Allah for this blessing, honour her and also, support her in seeking knowledge.

BEAUTIFUL EXPLANATION BY SHAYKH ALBAANEE ON PHOTO TAKING!

BEAUTIFUL EXPLANATION BY SHAYKH ALBAANEE ON PHOTO TAKING!

Untitled

Among the scholars who have discussed the issue of photography is Shaykh Naasir al-Deen al-Albaani, who said:

“Some of them differentiate between hand-drawn pictures and photographic images by claiming that the latter are not products of human effort, and that no more is involved than the mere capturing of the image. This is what they claim. The tremendous energy invested the one who invented this machine that can do in few seconds what otherwise could not be done in hours does not count as human effort, according to these people! Pointing the camera, focusing it, and taking the picture, preceded by installation of the film and followed by developing and whatever else that I may not know about… none of this is the result of human effort, according to them!

Some of them explain how this photography is done, and summarize that no less than eleven different actions are involved in the making of a picture. In spite of all this, they say that this picture is not the result of human action! Can it be permissible to hang up a picture of a man, for example, if it is produced by photography, but not if it is drawn by hand?

Those who say that photography is permitted have “frozen” the meaning of the word “tasweer,” restriciting it only to the meaning known at the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and not adding the meaning of photography, which is “tasweer” or “picture-making” in every sense – linguistic, legal, and in its harmful effects, and as is clear from the definition mentioned above. Years ago, I said to one of them, By the same token, you could allow idols which have not been carved but have been made by pressing a button on some machine that turns out idols by the dozen. What do you say to that?”

Are you allowed to say (Pope Johannes Paulus) that he will go to the hellfire, given that he died as a non-muslim?

Question: The leader of misguidance the Pope Johannes Paulus has died. Are you allowed to say that he will go to the hellfire, given that he died as a non-muslim?
Answer: What do you know regarding whether he died as a non-muslim or not? You can not confirm this. You can not be sure that he died as a non-muslim. You can not confirm the paradise or hellfire for someone who the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم   has not confirmed it for. You can not confirm that he died as a non-muslim. Allah knows best. Therefore, you can not confirm that he was going to hell. This is along the principle that you can not confirm anything about an individual. In general, the non-muslims, Christians and Jews end up in hell. But when it comes to individuals, you do not know in what condition they are dying in. You must hope for the best for the pious and fear the worst for the sinner. The fact that you say that Johannes [Paulus] will go to the hellfire is wrong. It is possible that he will go to the hellfire. Allah knows best. You can also say that he will go to the hellfire if he died as a non-muslim and that he ends up in paradise if he repented. But, you should not confirm anything without proof.

REGARDING SISTERS BEING ALONE IN A CAR WITH A DRIVER

Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ibraheem Aal-Shaykh رحمه الله  says:
“There is no doubt that a woman being alone with a taxi man in his taxi is unlawful. No doubt he will befriend her, which would lead to corruption especially if she is a very shy modest person. So how would it be if the driver is not too religious, immodest and has no shame?! So O Noble Sister in Islam, fear Allah The Exalted, and be not lax regarding such affairs such as the people are. What is important is what your deen tells you, not the custom of the people.”
[Majmoo' Al-Fataawaa, 1/152]
This fatwaa is based on the words of the Prophet
It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman…

[Bukhari and Muslim]

Part 1: Explanation of the hadith: “None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself”

Explanation of the hadith: “None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself”

“...It is also recorded in the Two Sahihs from Anas رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said,

“None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”  (1)

This hadith dictates that one implement the rights of his brother Muslim, both the specific and general, for this is from faith. Whoever does not do this, not loving for his brother what he loves from himself, has neglected and obligatory part of faith. Indeed his faith is defective and the degree of this defectiveness varies in accordance to the obligatory rights that he has neglected.
______________________________________________________

(1)al-Bukhari [13] and Muslim [45].
al-Kirmani رحمه الله said, “Also from faith is to hate for his brother what he hates from himself of the evil. This has not been mentioned in this hadith because the love of something necessarily implies the hatred of its opposite, hence there was no need to explicitly mention it. Allah knows best.” Quoted by Ibn Hajr, Fathu-l-Bari [1/58].
An-Nasa’i and others mention an additional wording to this hadith having a sahih isnad, “from the good”. This is an important addition for it serves to precisely define the meaning of the hadith for the word “good” encompasses all actions of obedience, all permissible affairs and excludes all the prohibited matters. Refer to al-Albani, as-Sahihah [1/155].

Shaykh Uthaymeen’s explanation:
